Job Description:
The Domain Expert – Asset Management & PLM is a senior functional leader responsible for bridging manufacturing business processes with enterprise IT systems across the full asset and product lifecycle. This role brings deep expertise in how physical assets and products are designed, built, operated, serviced, and retired—while translating those needs into scalable, integrated digital solutions.
The role partners closely with engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, service, and IT teams to ensure Asset Management and PLM capabilities are aligned to business outcomes such as reliability, uptime, quality, compliance, cost optimization, and time-to-market.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Asset Management & PLM Domain Leadership:
- Serve as the functional authority for Asset Management and PLM processes across manufacturing operations.
- Own end-to-end lifecycle understanding including:
- Product ideation, design, engineering change, and release
- Asset commissioning, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning
- Define industry best practices for asset reliability, configuration management, and lifecycle governance.
2. Business Process Ownership:
- Lead discovery and definition of current-state and future-state processes for:
- Asset hierarchy & asset master data
- Preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance
- Engineering change management (ECO/ECN)
- Product structures (BOM, MBOM, EBOM, Service BOM)
- Warranty, service, and aftermarket operations
- Ensure processes align with manufacturing KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, yield, quality, and cost.
3. IT & Digital Enablement:
- Translate business requirements into system capabilities and integration needs across:
- PLM systems
- EAM / CMMS
- ERP
- MES
- Field Service & Service Management platforms
- IoT / Digital Twin platforms (where applicable)
- Partner with architects to define integration patterns, data flows, and system ownership.
4. Data, Governance & Digital Thread:
- Define and govern asset and product data models across systems.
- Enable a connected digital thread from engineering through manufacturing and service.
- Establish governance for:
- Master data ownership
- Change control
- Versioning and traceability
- Regulatory and compliance requirements (ISO, FDA, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
5. Program & Stakeholder Leadership:
- Act as the business representative in large transformation programs and implementations.
- Facilitate workshops with engineering, operations, maintenance, quality, and IT stakeholders.
- Support solution design reviews, UAT, cutover planning, and change management.
- Mentor teams on industry best practices and domain concepts.
Must Have:
- 12+ years in manufacturing domain roles spanning Asset Management, PLM, or Operations
- Proven experience working across both business and IT teams
- Hands-on experience with large-scale manufacturing transformation programs
Manufacturing Domain Expertise:
Deep understanding of:
- Discrete or process manufacturing operations
- Asset-intensive environments (plants, equipment, tooling)
- Engineering and product development workflows
Strong knowledge of:
- Asset hierarchies and maintenance strategies
- Product structures and lifecycle states
- Change and configuration management
Technology & Systems Exposure (platform-agnostic):
Experience working with or alongside systems such as:
- PLM platforms
- EAM / CMMS solutions
- ERP (manufacturing modules)
- MES and shop-floor systems
- Field Service Management
- Integration and data platforms
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
