Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Director of Fraud Strategy to lead the development and execution of an enterprise-wide fraud strategy across all banking products, customer segments, channels, and payment types. This newly created leadership role will establish a centralized fraud strategy, aligning business, technology, fraud operations, and executive leadership around a common vision to reduce fraud losses while delivering an exceptional customer experience.
The ideal candidate is a strategic fraud leader with deep expertise across multiple fraud vectors-not someone solely focused on fraud operations or a single fraud domain. This individual will bring executive presence, strong cross-functional leadership skills, and a proven history of driving measurable improvements in fraud prevention, detection, and mitigation.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Fraud Strategy:
Develop and execute an enterprise fraud strategy spanning all fraud vectors, including:
* Account opening fraud
* Account takeover
* Money movement and payment fraud
* Emerging fraud threats
* Create and maintain a comprehensive fraud roadmap covering prevention, detection, investigation, response, recovery, and continuous optimization
* Align fraud initiatives with business objectives, regulatory requirements, customer experience, and organizational risk tolerance
Cross-Functional Leadership:
* Partner closely with Fraud Operations, Fraud Engineering, Product Management, Technology, Risk, Compliance, and Executive Leadership to drive enterprise-wide fraud initiatives
* Provide strategic direction across multiple fraud domains and help establish consistent governance and accountability
* Influence senior leadership and communicate fraud strategy, priorities, risks, and performance to executive stakeholders
REQUIREMENTS:
* 10+ years of progressive experience in fraud strategy, fraud risk management, payments risk, or enterprise fraud leadership within banking or financial services
* Deep expertise across multiple fraud vectors, including account opening fraud, account takeover, and payment or money movement fraud
* Demonstrated success developing and executing enterprise fraud strategies that deliver measurable business results
* Experience influencing executive leadership and partnering across multiple business and technology organizations
* Strong understanding of fraud technologies, analytics platforms, AI, and emerging fraud prevention capabilities
* Proven ability to use data and analytics to identify trends, measure performance, and drive strategic decisions
* Excellent executive communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills
Preferred Qualifications:
* Banking experience is strongly preferred due to the complexity of regulatory oversight and risk management within financial institutions
* Experience within fintech organizations will also be considered, provided candidates possess broad enterprise fraud strategy experience
* Familiarity with banking regulations, risk management frameworks, and fraud governance
* Experience leading enterprise transformation initiatives or standing up new strategic programs
Ideal Candidate Profile:
This role is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished fraud leader who has demonstrated enterprise impact and is ready to take ownership of organization-wide fraud strategy. We are seeking someone who combines strategic vision with execution, can influence at the executive level, and is passionate about staying ahead of an ever-evolving fraud landscape.
The ideal candidate is known for:
* Enterprise thinking and strategic leadership
* Cross-functional collaboration and influence
* Strong executive presence
* Results-driven execution
