Summary

job summary:

Exciting opportunity for an experienced Scrum Master to join our client's Engineering team based in Indianapolis, IN - supporting development and integration of advanced systems including situational awareness displays, mission computers, avionics, sensors, mission equipment, and radar systems.


Most programs involve hardware in the loop where software is integrated and tested with the hardware in a lab and then in the field.


Note: This position will require onsite work, typically a minimum of 3 days a week.


We're looking for a highly motivated and experienced Scrum Master to guide and coach one or more development teams in applying the Scrum framework effectively. The SCM will focus on producing timely and relevant software releases to meet customer expectations. You'll be instrumental in fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and self-organization, ensuring teams deliver high-value product increments efficiently.

responsibilities:

As a Scrum Master, you will be responsible for:


- Facilitation of Scrum Ceremonies: Facilitate all necessary Scrum Events for the development teams, ensuring they are positive, productive, and correctly time-boxed. This includes Daily Scrums, Sprint Planning, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.


- Backlog Management Support: Facilitate the creation of clear, concise Product Backlog Items with the Product Owner and the development team. Effectively manage user story estimation and forecasting.


- Impediment Removal: Proactively work to the removal of impediments at a development team level to maximize team flow and productivity.


- Value Delivery Focus: Facilitate the team's focus on creating high-value product increments that meet the Definition of Done (DoD).


- Coaching and Mentoring: Coach team members in self-management and cross-functionality, helping them grow into high-performing, autonomous units. Utilize team feedback and metrics to identify areas of opportunity and work with team to continuously improve. Coach the team to improve collaboration and self-management, promoting healthy interactions both within the team and stakeholders.


- Scrum Process Adherence: Ensure all necessary Scrum Events for development teams take place and are executed effectively.


- Interface/coordinate with other stakeholders as needed (Program leads, product owners, other scrum masters, management, etc). Champion and facilitate adoption of Agile principles. Communicate with leaders to ensure transparency into delivery progress, challenges, and risks. Represent the team at broader planning and coordination sessions.


- Actively participate in learning opportunities such as communities of practice or conferences to improve skills and better support the team


- Contribute to the advancement and improvement of Agile practices within the organization




qualifications:

Education Requirements:


- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) degree program or equivalent work experience.


Required skills


- Minimum of 6 years of related experience in a Software Development environment or other related engineering experience.


- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Scrum Master.


- Demonstrated leadership skills with a proven ability to mentor and coach teams and individuals.


- Ability to communicate to a team effectively and other project stakeholders.


- A strong ability to self-organize and manage time and priorities effectively.



Desired skills


- Holds a Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification.


- Familiarity with one or more Agile techniques beyond basic Scrum, such as LeSS, SaFE, Kanban, or eXtreme Programming (XP). Experience with DevSecOps practices.


- Experience with Azure DevOps (ADO) or similar environment


- Familiarity with build pipelines and Automated Testing Frameworks.


- Relevant experience or familiarity with common development and infrastructure technologies such as C/C++/C#, Java, Python, networking, Linux, and Virtual Machines.
