Role: SRE with Linux

Location: Berkeley Heights, NJ

 Contract

Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Linux and Windows System Administrator with strong hands-on experience in containerized platforms (Kubernetes, Pivotal Cloud Foundry), databases (My environments, participate in incident response, and ensure platform stability, security, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operating Systems & Platform Support

  • Administer, support, and troubleshoot Linux (RHEL) and Windows Server environments in Production, DR, and Non-Prod.
  • Perform OS-level monitoring and performance tuning in line with enterprise security guidelines.

Container & Cloud Platforms

  • Provide operational support for Kubernetes clusters, including:
  • Cluster access management
  • Certificate updates on ingress/controllers

Support Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) environments:

  • App container issues
  • Platform availability and scaling coordination
  • Work closely with application and Dev teams for deployments and incident resolution.

Database Support (Infrastructure-level)

Support MySQL databases:

  • Basic administration, connectivity troubleshooting
  • Backup/restore support
  • SSL/TLS configuration and validation

Support MongoDB at infrastructure and certificate level:

  • MongoDB certificate validation and renewal
  • Coordination with DBAs for schema or data operations

SSL Certificate Management

  • Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle across Linux, Windows, Kubernetes, and database platforms
  • CSR generation and validation
  • Certificate renewal, deployment, and verification
  • Key strength enforcement (2048/4096-bit as required)
  • Experience handling client-owned certificates, including reuse of private keys when required.

Incident & Change Management

  • Participate in Major Incident (P3/P4) calls, provide technical triage and remediation.
  • Execute changes through format change management processes.
  • Provide post-incident documentation and validation.
  • Required Skills & Experience

Required Skills & Experience:

Mandatory:

  • 8+ years of experience as a Linux/Windows System Administrator
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Linux (RHEL)
    • Windows Server (2016/2019 or later)
    • Kubernetes (enterprise clusters)
    • Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF)

Experience supporting:

  • MySQL
  • MongoDB
  • Proven experience with SSL/TLS certificate renewal and deployment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in production environments

Technical Skills:

  • OpenSSL, key formats (PEM, PFX, JKS)
  • Certificate chains, CA bundles, private key management
  • Basic scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Ansible preferred)
  • Monitoring and logging tools (Splunk or similar)

Understanding of security hardening and audit controls
