The specific feedback on their final interview was the following: we're looking for more of a contributor with developer focus. We are looking for practical experience with Document Automation.

If you could send me two more good options I would love to get them in front of Penske. The manager is out of office from the 13th to the 17th.

Max rate: $70-80/hr. converting at $155k annually. They can sit in Reading, PA or Tampa FL. Final interview will be onsite.

Our client is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a growing enterprise technology team focused on workflow automation, process optimization, and business transformation initiatives.
This role will partner closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify opportunities for automation, gather requirements, design solutions, and deliver measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate combines strong technical automation experience with excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business value.
This position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact automation initiatives that improve operational efficiency, reduce manual effort, and support enterprise-wide process improvement efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, implement, and support workflow automation solutions across multiple business functions.
  • Partner directly with business stakeholders to identify automation opportunities and gather requirements.
  • Analyze existing business processes and recommend solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Lead automation projects from discovery through deployment and ongoing support.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Monitor automation performance and recommend enhancements to improve reliability and effectiveness.
  • Document business requirements, technical designs, and operational procedures.
  • Present recommendations, project updates, and automation results to business leaders and technical teams.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Evaluate emerging automation technologies and provide recommendations for future adoption.
  • Support automation governance, best practices, testing, and change management processes.

Qualifications
Required

  • 5+ years of experience in software development, automation engineering, business systems analysis, or related technical disciplines.
  • Experience designing and implementing workflow automation solutions in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with automation platforms such as Automation Anywhere, UiPath, Blue Prism, Power Automate, or similar technologies.
  • Strong understanding of business process analysis and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience gathering requirements directly from business stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive solutions to completion.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.

Preferred

  • Experience with Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Experience integrating automation solutions with APIs, databases, and enterprise applications.
  • Exposure to document automation, intelligent automation, or AI-enabled workflow solutions.
  • Experience working within Agile or Kanban environments.
  • Knowledge of SQL, web technologies, or enterprise application integrations.
  • Experience working with distributed teams and external technology partners.


Senior Automation Engineer (Preferred Level)
Candidates considered at the Senior level should demonstrate the ability to:

  • Independently engage with business stakeholders and leadership.
  • Lead requirements gathering sessions and solution discussions.
  • Present technical recommendations to non-technical audiences.
  • Translate business needs into scalable automation solutions.
  • Influence decision-making through strong communication and subject matter expertise.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Mentor team members and provide leadership across automation initiatives.
