RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Redmond, WA that is seeking an ESD Test Engineer to develop ESD solutions for low ESD threshold devices. They must understand chip level and package level ESD requirements and come up with solutions that increase ESD robustness against HBM and CDM. This person must also have good experience in HBM and CDM ESD testing of complex devices and packages and testing protocols. The ESD Test Engineer will conduct failure analysis using SEM and provide root cause analysis reports. Experience with ESD solutions development for III-V substrates is a plus.
Responsibilities:
* Work with Chip and Packaging teams to understand the ESD threshold and other requirements
* Prepare action plans for the ESD solutions proposed by the team and execute the plans
* Screen different ESD solutions and collect ESD test data quickly
* Conduct electrical measurements before and after ESD experiments and thermal cycling experiments
* Coordinate and conduct thermal cycling experiments
* Set up CDM ESD test set up and verify its performance
* Conduct quality analysis of as-received test samples and failure analysis of ESD tested and thermal cycled samples using Optical and Scanning electron microscopes
* Work with other teams on short loop ESD solutions development and deliver the results in timely fashion
* Conduct HBM and ESD tests on baseline and improved designs and document the ESD thresholds
* Conduct failure analysis of devices using EBIRCH/EBIC/EBAC in SEM
* Maintain ESD protection protocols during sample preparation, handling, packaging, and measurement stages
* Work with other team members on different measurements and analyses in a multifunctional team environment
REQUIREMENTS:
* BS/MS in Materials science and engineering, Electronics engineering, or related field with 4-6 years of experience developing ESD solutions for microelectronic chips and packages
* Experience in developing innovative ESD solutions for III-V substrate based devices
* Experience with HBM and CDM testing and protocols for low ESD threshold devices
* Experienced in conducting failure analysis on ESD solution prototypes and ESD tested devices and identify and classify different failure analysis modes and mechanisms
* Experience with setting up CDM test set up and data collection
* Experience with Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and EDS chemical analysis in the context of materials and failure analysis
* Strong background and experience with statistical data analysis tools to estimate test sample requirements and test data analysis
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, and a team player
* Experience with failure analysis of devices using EBIRCH/EBIC/EBAC in an SEM is a plus
* Experience with thermal cycling of chips from room temperature to 4K is a plus
