Salary: $30.00 USD Hourly - $35.00 USD Hourly
Description: 50% remote, 50% travel locally around Houston TXWhat This Role DoesThis person supports and maintains the company's network infrastructure across power plants, data centers, and remote locations. The role combines hands-on network troubleshooting, device configuration, monitoring, and field support.
Unlike a traditional office-based network role, this position requires travel to plant sites, working outdoors in various conditions, following strict safety procedures, and coordinating approvals before making network changes.
Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Administration & Support- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot:
- Cisco Routers
- Cisco Switches
- Cisco VPNs
- VMware Velocloud SD-WAN
- Meraki Wireless
- Cisco ISE
- Support internet connectivity and remote access solutions.
- Perform cable management and hardware installations.
- Maintain network device inventory.
Network Monitoring- Monitor network performance and availability using:
- WhatsUp Gold
- MRTG
- Nectus
- Cisco Catalyst Center / DNA Center
- ThousandEyes
- Identify and resolve network issues.
Troubleshooting- Troubleshoot:
- Routing and switching issues
- TCP/IP connectivity problems
- DHCP issues
- VoIP network problems
- Work with internal network engineering teams on escalations and configurations.
Operations & Process Compliance- Follow change control procedures.
- Manage and respond to tickets within SLA requirements.
- Support network-related requests and approvals.
- Maintain relationships with application owners and business users.
Field Support- Travel to power plants and operational facilities.
- Work in:
- Data centers
- Electrical generation environments
- Outdoor industrial locations
- Follow all safety requirements and site access procedures.
Required ExperienceMust-Have- Approximately 2+ years of networking experience.
- Cisco router and switch troubleshooting experience.
- Basic routing and switching knowledge.
- TCP/IP troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting enterprise networks.
- Ability to travel between sites.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Comfortable working in industrial environments.
Nice-to-Have- CCNA certification.
- Bachelor's degree.
- Experience with:
- Cisco ISE
- Meraki
- SD-WAN (Velocloud)
- ThousandEyes
- Cisco DNA Center
- Network monitoring platforms
Required After Hire- Obtain/maintain NERC certification for power plant access.
