The Global Infrastructure Cost Transparency team, a part of Infrastructure Data & Analytics (ID&A), aims to establish and reinforce a culture of effective metrics, data-driven business processes, architecture simplification, and cost transparency.
We are seeking a Data Engineer who knows that delivering on that promise takes foresight, planning and agility. Metric-driven cost optimization, workload-specific forecasting and robust cost modeling are among the tools and practices required to drive accountability for delivering business solutions that derive maximum value. If you have deep experience with cost transparency, allocation, and optimization, you'll find a fit within our enterprise-wide Cost Transparency team responsible for establishing consistent workload attribution, unit economics and business value metrics.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Build well-architected pipelines to extract, transform and load data from various sources, including general ledger fields and other systems of record into a coherent, actionable format
- Design, develop, and maintain reports, processes and KPIs that provide detailed usage statistics, cost correlations and actionable insights across the multi-product infrastructure environment
- Build data models for comparisons of deployments on various platforms, cause and effect scenarios, and consumption pattern analysis to underpin business value measurements and cost stewardship for enterprise deployments, platform growth, and product lifecycle strategies
- Function as member of an agile team by contributing to software builds through consistent development practices (tools, common components, and documentation)
- Debug basic software components and identify code defects for remediation
- Enable the deployment, support, and monitoring of software across test, integration, and production environments
- Influence team members with creative changes and continuous improvements
Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience with IBM s ApptioOne and TBM Studio
- Hands-on experience designing pipelines to orchestra data ingestion and integration from external systems of record (SORs) into IBM ApptioOne
- A deep understanding of ApptioOne modules, namely Cost Transparency, Total Cost of Ownership and Bill of IT
- Expert-level knowledge and experience in RDBMS (SQL Server or Oracle or PostGres), NOSQL, Json, Node Js, Python Programming, Astronomer Airflow, HTML and XML
- Acumen towards building reporting dashboards and collections for varying audience personas such as executives, finance managers, product leaders, portfolio managers and application owners/managers
- Keen ability and interest to build financial strategies, frameworks and tools from the ground up
- Ability to demonstrate increased self-reliance to achieve team goals
- Demonstrable software development experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience such as:
- Familiarity with Agile or DevOps
- Experience with API design, either as a provider or consumer
- Experience with object-oriented design and coding with variety of languages
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau is a plus, but not required
- Hands-on expertise with distributed (multi-tiered) systems and relational database design, development, troubleshooting and automated testing
