Data Engineering Technical Lead

Build and Lead a Modern Data Platform

We are seeking a hands-on Data Engineering Technical Lead to help modernize and scale an enterprise data platform. This role is ideal for someone who wants to lead from the front while staying deeply technical.
You will play a central role in transforming legacy data systems into a cloud-native Lakehouse environment that powers analytics, AI, and business intelligence.

What You Will Do

  • Modernize legacy data pipelines
  • Transform SSIS and SSRS workloads into scalable pipelines using Databricks, dbt, Fivetran, and Airflow
  • Define data architecture standards
  • Design and implement reusable patterns across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers
  • Lead POCs and technology evaluations
  • Test and validate new tools and frameworks such as Delta Live Tables, Iceberg, and streaming ingestion
  • Leverage AI in engineering workflows
  • Use tools like GitHub Copilot, Databricks Assistant, and dbt AI capabilities to improve productivity and quality
  • Apply machine learning to data operations
  • Support efforts around anomaly detection, data drift monitoring, and pipeline optimization
  • Drive engineering best practices
  • Implement CI/CD, version control, testing, and observability standards
  • Collaborate across teams
  • Work closely with engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions
  • Mentor engineers
  • Provide technical direction and promote modern data engineering practices
  • Optimize performance and cost
  • Tune pipelines, storage, and compute across cloud platforms

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related fields
  • 3+ years in a lead or senior capacity

Technical experience:
  • Data design patterns such as CDC, SCD, Medallion, Data Vault, batch, and streaming
  • Databricks, Apache Spark, dbt, Airflow, Kafka
  • Modern data tools such as Fivetran and Census
  • Cloud experience with Azure and or Google Cloud Platform, including services like Synapse, Data Factory, BigQuery, or Pub/Sub
  • Modernization of legacy ETL pipelines into cloud-native architectures
  • SQL and one programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java

Additional strengths:
  • Experience building proofs of concept and evaluating new technologies
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools
  • Strong problem-solving and architectural thinking
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
