The Role: Quality Manager
Location: Raleigh, NC

What You ll Do:
Our client is looking for a Quality Manager to join their Team! The Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that all and industry specific quality standards, regulations, and requirements are followed during development and industrialization of new electro-mechanical drive systems. This role serves as the primary contact for customers in documenting the processes of developing a new product. In addition, this role manages the quality aspect of releasing a new product to production. Responsibilities include:
Project Quality Assurance
- Supporting the project manager by project controlling to the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) project management method and the determination of the degree of maturity of projects.
- Detection of deviations on a timely manner, institution of corrective actions.
- Maintaining monthly Project Quality Plan & Report (PQP&R).
- Preparing APQP phase exit documentation and reviews with corporate quality manager.
Risk Management
- Coordinating and moderation of design and process failure modes and effects risk analysis (FMEA).
- Leading of planning risk mitigation activities for product, project or business risks.
Customer Interface
- Customer contact regarding all product and project quality topics.
- Review of customer quality requirements and applicable standards and norms.
- Implementing design, document and process controls to ensure compliance with internal and external customer requirements.
- Planning and creation of First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) of the final product.
- Trigger the creation of the RASI (Responsible, Approval, Support and Information) chart with the project team and the business partners for assurance and improvement of the intercorporational communication.
Testing Interface
- Collaborating on verification test plan creation.
- Test Plan Approval.
- Verification test result review.
- Actively support of the prototype build planning.
Industrialization Interface
- Assurance of capable serial manufacturing processes under production conditions.
- Review of user requirements specifications for assembly line development.
- Participating in trial runs for prototype and serial production.
- Collaborating on the creation of the process approval file for manufacturing process release.
- Leading validation efforts to ensure that planned processes are capable of producing qualified parts.
- Planning and managing Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) efforts.
Supplier Quality
- Working closely with team members and suppliers to establish quality criteria for components.
- Creating all PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) orders and reviewing all PPAP submissions from suppliers.
- Coordinating metrology inspection and subsequent follow up activities with team and suppliers until components are released for serial production.
Development
- Working closely with the development team members and desired manufacturing plant personnel to establish quality assurance strategies in all phases of the product development and production life cycle.
- Leading Quality Function Deployment (QFD) techniques to ensure manufacturable, low risk, high quality products.
- Monitoring quality activities to meet required project timing including follow-up with purchasing and external suppliers to ensure timely responses to action items.
- Maintaining records and files in accordance to applicable industry quality standards.
QMS Compliance and Auditing
- Maintain and improve the IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 quality management system as local responsible.
- Representing for customer or external system audits and management of necessary corrective actions.
- Planning and execution of internal and external quality management system audits.
- Provision of QMS & organizational process trainings for colleagues.
Administrative / General
- Organizing records and work efforts to assure timely accomplishment of tasks.
- Supporting the management meetings and reviews.
- Traveling to various locations and customers as required, including international travel.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
- Job duties are subject to change as directed by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Four year Bachelor s of Science Degree in Engineering or Quality.
- Certified quality auditor ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 preferred.
- Experience with quality standard ISO 13485 preferred.
- At least four years experience in quality assurance.
- Expert in design and process failure modes and effect analysis (FMEA), preferred knowledge of the APIS IQ-RM tool.
- Experience with quality function deployment (QFD) techniques and design for six sigma.
- Experience with quality improvement, management, and planning tools.
- Experience with statistical methods/software, gauging techniques, metrology methods.
- Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ guidelines preferred.
- PC skills, MS Office
