Job Title: Data Governance Analyst IV (Data Lineage & Disposition)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and analytical Data Governance Analyst IV to support our enterprise data disposition program. In this role, you will lead efforts in identifying, analyzing, and managing the lifecycle, retention, and secure disposition of systems containing sensitive personal information (PI).
This is a high-impact technical governance role requiring a deep understanding of relational databases, upstream/downstream system dependencies, and complex data flows across enterprise landscapes. You will collaborate directly with Data Stewards, Privacy, Legal, and IT engineering teams to trace data lineage, evaluate integration points, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (such as CCPA/CPRA and GDPR). If you excel at translating complex data concepts and mapping technical architectures for end-of-life systems, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
Data Lineage & System Dependencies
Dependency Mapping: Analyze and document upstream and downstream system dependencies for legacy and active systems slated for data disposition or decommissioning.
Lineage Tracking: Utilize enterprise metadata and lineage tools (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation) to trace data flows, map business rules, and confirm integration points.
Impact Analysis: Evaluate system integration points to determine the operational and compliance impact of data removal or archiving on related platforms.
Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
Stakeholder Facilitation: Conduct kickoff sessions with application owners, business analysts, and system subject matter experts to document disposition processes and retention schedules.
Cross-Functional Alignment: Partner with Privacy, Information Security, Legal, and IT teams to ensure personal information is correctly identified, minimized, and handled according to policy.
Transition Strategies: Assist in defining technical solutions, data mapping diagrams, and transition strategies for systems entering end-of-life lifecycles.
Documentation & Technical Support
Comprehensive Logging: Maintain detailed documentation including data flow diagrams, system interface maps, and dependency logs.
Architecture Reviews: Participate in technical reviews and architecture discussions to ensure disposition readiness and adherence to data quality frameworks.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Baseline: 5+ years of progressive professional experience in a technical data integration, database administration, or data governance role.
Technical Mastery:
oProven understanding of relational database structures, entity relationships, data dictionaries, and interface specifications.
oHands-on experience with enterprise data lineage and metadata management systems (e.g., Informatica, Collibra, Alation).
oStrong proficiency in SQL and database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL).
oKnowledge of ETL processes and data integration techniques.
Governance & Compliance: Strong knowledge of Personal Information (PI) governance, data minimization, retention schedules, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CCPA/CPRA, GDPR).
Core Competencies: Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex data concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Attributes
Direct experience managing system decommissioning, data migration, or enterprise data disposition projects.
Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
Formal certifications in data governance, metadata management, or project management methodologies.
