Telecommunications Specialist

Description

We are looking for an experienced Telecommunications Specialist to support enterprise voice and communication systems. This role is ideal for a self-directed individual who can step into an active environment, assess priorities quickly, and keep critical telecom work moving forward with limited oversight. The position offers the opportunity to contribute hands-on expertise across telephony infrastructure, user communication needs, and project coordination while partnering with technical teams and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

Manage enterprise telephony activities, including call routing design, auto attendants, hunt groups, number management, and E911 configuration.

Take ownership of ongoing telecom initiatives by reviewing current progress, identifying open items, and driving remaining work through completion.

Support and maintain IP telephony and UCaaS-related services to ensure reliable voice connectivity across the organization.

Coordinate number portability efforts and work with carriers or service providers to resolve provisioning and PSTN connectivity issues.

Provide technical guidance on Avaya-based environments and assist with telecom-related changes tied to broader platform updates.

Communicate clearly with IT teams, end users, and leadership to share status updates, surface risks, and align on next steps.

Travel to company sites as needed to assist with telecom assessments, implementation tasks, or issue resolution.

Document configurations, decisions, and action plans to keep telecom operations organized and accessible for stakeholders.

Requirements

5+ years of experience working with enterprise telecommunications or telephony systems.
Strong knowledge of call flows, auto attendants, hunt groups, number porting, E911, and PSTN connectivity.
Hands-on experience with Avaya platforms is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Zoom, UCaaS solutions, IP telephony, and broader telephony system administration.
Demonstrated ability to take over active projects, organize priorities, and deliver results with minimal ramp-up time.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for working with technical teams, end users, and leadership audiences.
Ability to work independently in a contract environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.
