Overview: A public sector client of ours in Austin, Texas is looking for a Informatica Data Governance Engineer for a 5-month contract that is likely to extend.
The Informatica Data Governance Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise data governance solutions using Informatica platforms. This role supports metadata management, data quality rule implementation, data lineage documentation, and stewardship workflows while collaborating with data stewards, analysts, and business teams to enforce governance standards.
The engineer develops automated data ingestion, transformation, and validation processes and integrates cloud-based data platforms with governance and data management tools. The role ensures data quality, reliability, and compliance across enterprise data pipelines while contributing to architectural decisions, governance best practices, and reporting support.
This position also provides technical guidance related to reporting development, monitors data platform performance, and troubleshoots data issues to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security across the organization s data environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Implement and maintain enterprise data governance solutions, including metadata management, data cataloging, and stewardship workflows.
Configure and manage governance tools such as Informatica Axon, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, and Informatica Data Quality.
Design and maintain automated data ingestion, transformation, and validation pipelines.
Integrate governance and data management tools with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake.
Develop and document data transformation rules, metadata definitions, and data lineage mappings.
Ensure reporting and data extract processes comply with enterprise governance and data management standards.
Monitor data pipelines for data quality, reliability, and performance.
Implement API integrations and workflow automation to support governance processes.
Contribute to architectural decisions, governance frameworks, and enterprise data best practices.
Troubleshoot data defects and collaborate with technical teams to resolve issues affecting reporting and data pipelines.
Provide technical recommendations and guidance related to reporting and data management solutions.

Required Experience:
Five years of experience working with Informatica data governance tools such as Informatica Axon, Informatica Enterprise Data Catalog, and Informatica Data Quality.
Two years of experience working with Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services.
Five years of experience implementing API integrations and workflow automation.
Five years of experience using Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint.
Three years of experience working with cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, Databricks, or Snowflake.
Three years of experience in data modeling, metadata management, and data lineage documentation.
Five years of experience applying enterprise information management processes, relational database management systems, and metadata management practices.
Two years of experience working in fast-paced environments while meeting project deadlines, exercising sound judgment, and analyzing complex data issues. Two years of experience demonstrating strong interpersonal skills, including negotiation, conflict resolution, and collaboration with personnel across multiple organizational levels.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, business administration, or a related field.
Preferred Experience:
Two (2) years of experience applying local, state, and federal data privacy regulations related to personally identifiable information (PII) and data governance.
Two (2) years of experience supporting data-focused modernization initiatives, such as migrating from legacy systems to modern data platforms.
