Job Title: Solution Architect Databricks (DB2 & Ab Initio Migration)
Location: Atlanta, GA (Hybrid)
Employment Type: [Contract / Full-Time]
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly experienced Solution Architect with deep expertise in Databricks and strong experience in migrating legacy data platforms, specifically DB2 and Ab Initio, to modern cloud-based data ecosystems.
The ideal candidate will lead end-to-end architecture, define migration strategies, and ensure scalable, secure, and high-performance production data solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and design enterprise data architecture using Databricks (Lakehouse architecture preferred)
- Lead migration initiatives from DB2 databases and Ab Initio ETL systems to modern cloud platforms
- Develop migration roadmaps, architecture blueprints, and implementation strategies
- Provide technical leadership to data engineering teams
- Ensure data quality, governance, performance optimization, and security best practices
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Conduct architecture reviews and recommend modernization strategies
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of experience in Data Architecture / Data Engineering
- Strong hands-on experience with Databricks (Spark, Delta Lake, PySpark)
- Strong knowledge of Databricks design patterns
- Strong experience implementing production-grade data architectures
- Proven experience migrating from:
- Strong knowledge of data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform)
- Experience handling large-scale data transformation and performance tuning
- Strong architectural documentation and stakeholder communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience in large enterprise modernization programs
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices for data platforms
- Certification in Databricks or cloud technologies
- Finance / Banking domain experience
