We are seeking a skilled Hadoop / HPE MapR Engineer to design, build, operate, and optimize large-scale distributed data platforms. In this contingent resource assignment, you will consult on and participate in moderately complex initiatives within Software Engineering, contributing to large-scale planning and resolving complex technical challenges. This role focuses on supporting and enhancing HPE MapR-based Hadoop ecosystems to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability for enterprise data workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain distributed data platforms using HPE MapR and Hadoop technologies.
- Support and optimize MapR-based ecosystems for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Monitor cluster health and troubleshoot performance or stability issues in production environments.
- Ensure high availability and operational efficiency of enterprise-scale data infrastructure.
- Work with Apache Spark and data processing frameworks for large-scale data workloads.
- Perform Linux/Unix system administration tasks related to cluster operations.
- Develop and maintain scripts and tools for automation using Python, Java, Scala, or Bash.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex distributed system issues.
- Adhere to organizational policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3-5+ years of experience with Hadoop ecosystems, specifically HPE MapR. An equivalent background may be demonstrated through a combination of work or consulting experience, training, or military experience.
Technical Skills: Strong understanding of distributed systems, data storage, and cluster computing. Proficiency in Linux/Unix and at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Java, Scala, or Bash.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Apache Spark and batch/stream processing frameworks.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like Grafana, Prometheus, or Splunk.
- Experience supporting high-availability, enterprise-scale clusters.
- Knowledge of other Hadoop distributions such as Cloudera or Hortonworks.
- Proven troubleshooting skills in large-scale production environments.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay rate for this position is between $53.00 and $57.00 per hour. Contract duration is 12 months.
