Job Description:

Job Title: Systems Technologist

Location: Fulltime Onsite in Oxon Hill, MD (M-F)

Overview:

The Technologist serves as the primary integrator of communications, networks, and mission systems, ensuring secure, reliable, and end-to-end information flow in support of operational objectives. This role is responsible for overseeing the technical system processes in an operational environment. In addition to technical oversight, the Technologist acts as a trusted advisor to leadership, translating complex technical realities into clear operational impact and risk-informed recommendations.

Duties:

Communications and Systems Integration
  • Architect, integrate, and oversee end-to-end communications across:
    • Tactical radio systems
    • Enterprise and operational networks
    • Servers, endpoints, and mission systems
    • Satellite and terrestrial links
  • Ensure all components function as a single, reliable communications environment

Infrastructure and Network Management
  • Design and manage LAN/WAN, tactical, and strategic network architectures
  • Oversee network performance, resiliency, and availability
  • Support voice, data, and video transport across operational environments

Cybersecurity and Risk Oversight
  • Ensure communications systems are secure, compliant, and defensible
  • Coordinate encryption, access control, and cyber policy implementation
  • Assess risks and clearly communicate operational impact and mitigation strategies

Operational Support
  • Enable communications during exercises, deployments, and real-world operations
  • Troubleshoot system failures under mission-critical conditions
  • Maintain continuity of communications in degraded or contested environments

Technology Planning
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and modernization opportunities
  • Support planning efforts balancing mission needs, risk, cost, and complexity

Communication and Advisory Responsibilities
  • Brief leaders on system capabilities, limitations, risks, and readiness
  • Translate mission requirements into technical designs and resource needs
  • Coordinate across operational, IT, cyber, intelligence, and external partners
  • Communicate outages, risks, and recovery plans clearly and professionally


Required Qualifications:
  • Experience integrating radios, networks, and systems in complex environments
  • Strong understanding of communications and network architecture
  • Ability to think end-to-end across technologies rather than in silos
  • Proven ability to brief senior leaders and engage non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience operating in mission-critical environments, operational-level environments
  • Experience supporting federal government programs


Compensation & Benefits

The anticipated conversion salary for this position is between $140,000 and $155,000 annually. A comprehensive benefits package is available to eligible employees.
