Description
We are looking for an experienced EPMO Portfolio Manager to lead complex IT initiatives in Chicago, IL. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who excels in Agile environments, drives cross-functional alignment, and keeps projects on track from planning through delivery. The role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and hands-on experience using structured project management practices and tools to support successful outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end delivery of IT projects, establishing scope, timelines, milestones, and measurable objectives.
Facilitate Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives, to support team performance and transparency.
Coordinate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership to align priorities, manage expectations, and address project risks.
Maintain project plans, status reporting, and issue tracking using Atlassian Jira and related project management tools.
Monitor project progress closely, resolve blockers proactively, and drive timely decision-making to keep initiatives moving forward.
Ensure project governance standards are followed, including documentation, resource planning, and change management processes.
Prepare and present regular updates on budget, schedule, dependencies, and delivery status to key stakeholders.
Requirements
Proven experience managing IT projects in a project manager or senior consultant capacity.
Strong working knowledge of Agile Scrum methodology and experience leading Agile teams.
PMP certification or equivalent project management credential.
Demonstrated ability to manage project scope, schedules, risks, and stakeholder communications effectively.
Hands-on experience with Atlassian Jira for tracking work, reporting progress, and supporting delivery workflows.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills in fast-paced project environments.
