    Job Summary

    In this contingent resource assignment, you will participate in moderately complex Software Engineering initiatives supporting a large, complex legacy Collections application. The selected engineer will primarily work on the Core Java backend while supporting a modernization effort migrating application functionality from Java Server Faces to React.

    The role requires strong Java, Spring Boot, microservices, Kafka, and MongoDB experience. The engineer will join a 10-person Kanban team responsible for ongoing application enhancements, quarterly releases, operational support, and continued modernization. The candidate should be comfortable working within a large enterprise application and contributing to both legacy-code analysis and new cloud-oriented services.
    Day-to-Day Responsibilities
    Backend Development
    • Develop and maintain enterprise Java backend services
    • Build and enhance Spring Boot microservices
    • Design and implement reusable backend components
    • Troubleshoot complex application issues
    • Read, analyze, and enhance existing legacy Java code
    • Support application performance, reliability, and maintainability
    React Modernization
    • Support the migration from Java Server Faces to React
    • Collaborate with frontend engineers on backend APIs and application integration
    • Update services and interfaces required by modernized user experiences
    • Help validate migrated functionality against existing business behavior
    Kafka & Event Processing
    • Build and support Kafka-based integrations
    • Configure and troubleshoot message processing
    • Apply filtering and routing logic based on application requirements
    • Investigate event-flow issues and support reliable data exchange
    Database Development
    • Develop and troubleshoot MongoDB-backed application services
    • Support data access, validation, and performance optimization
    • Collaborate on schema and query design for microservices
    • Diagnose issues involving application and database interactions
    Cloud & Platform Support
    • Work with services deployed in OpenShift cloud environments
    • Support cloud-based application delivery and troubleshooting
    • Apply Kubernetes concepts where applicable
    • Collaborate with platform teams on deployment and runtime issues
    Delivery & Collaboration
    • Work within a Kanban delivery model
    • Participate in planning, refinement, demonstrations, and team coordination
    • Support quarterly release activities when needed
    • Collaborate with Engineers, Product Owners, QA teams, and business partners
    • Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly
