Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior API Engineer with strong hands-on experience designing, developing, securing, and deploying enterprise APIs on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Azure API services, REST API development, cloud infrastructure, security, networking, governance, and CI/CD automation. MuleSoft and AI-assisted development experience are a plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, secure, deploy, and support scalable REST APIs and services on Azure.
• Develop APIs using Azure API Management (APIM), Azure Functions, App Services, and related Azure services.
• Create and maintain OpenAPI/Swagger specifications and follow REST API design, versioning, and documentation standards.
• Implement API security using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, and Azure Key Vault.
• Ensure APIs comply with enterprise security, performance, networking, infrastructure, and governance standards.
• Apply Azure networking patterns including VNets, private endpoints, NSGs, firewalls, and private connectivity.
• Implement API gateway policies such as authentication, routing, throttling, rate limiting, caching, and logging.
• Build automated CI/CD pipelines for API applications and Azure infrastructure using Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Bicep, Terraform, ARM templates, or similar technologies.
• Establish monitoring, logging, diagnostics, and alerting using Application Insights and Azure Monitor.
• Participate in architecture/design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and development of reusable API engineering standards.

Required Qualifications

• Strong software engineering experience with a focus on API and integration development.
• Hands-on experience building and hosting production APIs on Microsoft Azure.
• Strong experience with Azure API Management, Azure Functions, and Azure services/infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of REST API conventions and OpenAPI/Swagger specifications.
• Experience implementing secure APIs using modern authentication and authorization standards.
• Good understanding of Azure security, networking, performance, monitoring, and governance.
• Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automating application and infrastructure deployments.
• Experience with automated testing, production monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Strong understanding of Git and modern DevOps/DevSecOps practices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint Platform, API-led connectivity, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Experience integrating MuleSoft and Azure-based APIs/services.
• Experience with event-driven Azure services such as Service Bus and Event Grid.
• Experience with containers and/or AKS is a plus.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot for code generation, testing, documentation, or development automation.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications are a plus.
