We are seeking an experienced Radio Engineer to support the development, programming, and maintenance of mission-critical public safety radio communication systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with P25 radio programming, radio communications, and template development for two-way radio systems.
This is a hybrid position, requiring onsite work two days per week from day one. Local candidates are strongly preferred. Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate at their own expense without delays.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain radio programming templates for public safety communication systems.
Create, update, and validate radio programming files for deployment.
Identify and request Radio IDs, Talkgroups, and Encryption keys.
Program radios with appropriate templates and encryption configurations.
Perform quality assurance checks on programming templates and radio records.
Maintain equipment records using Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems and related databases.
Coordinate radio reprogramming activities with field personnel.
Support troubleshooting of radio communication issues.
Assist with testing new radio programming software and evaluating new radio equipment.
Prepare documentation, reports, and maintain accurate technical records.
Respond to technical support requests and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Radio or Communications Technician.
2+ years of experience with P25 Radio Programming (Motorola and Kenwood).
Strong computer and data entry skills.
Experience working with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in Military, Public Safety, or Radio Communications environments.
Experience with two-way radio systems.
Experience with P25 Encryption and Key Management Facility (KMF/AES).
Experience supporting large-scale radio communication systems.
Certifications (Preferred)
FCC General Radiotelephone License.
APCO Certificate or equivalent certification.
