Cloud Engineer

Description

We are looking for a Cloud Engineer to support and enhance enterprise cloud operations in Stamford, Connecticut. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can build reliable Azure environments, improve infrastructure automation, and help maintain secure, highly available platforms. The role will work closely with engineering and security partners to deliver scalable cloud solutions and strengthen operational performance.

Responsibilities:
Build, configure, and sustain Azure infrastructure through Infrastructure as Code practices using Terraform.
Manage the full lifecycle of Azure resources, including subscriptions, networking, storage, compute, and core platform services.
Develop and support cloud network architecture across virtual networks, security groups, firewalls, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity components.
Provision and administer Azure compute services such as virtual machines, scale sets, and managed platform offerings.
Connect infrastructure deployments with CI/CD workflows to enable consistent automation for releases and environment updates.
Administer identity and access controls with Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, and conditional access policies.
Monitor platform health, respond to alerts, and drive preventive actions to improve resilience and service uptime.
Implement recovery strategies by supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities within Azure.
Collaborate with security stakeholders to apply cloud governance standards, risk controls, and compliance-focused configurations.
Investigate complex cloud issues, document findings, maintain operational runbooks, and contribute to cost and capacity optimization efforts.

Requirements

Hands-on experience engineering and supporting cloud infrastructure in Microsoft Azure environments.
Strong knowledge of Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methods for repeatable cloud provisioning.
Background working with Azure networking, including virtual networks, firewalls, load balancers, and secure connectivity patterns.
Experience integrating infrastructure automation with CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.
Understanding of identity and access management concepts, including Microsoft Entra ID and managed identities.
Ability to support monitoring, incident resolution, backup planning, and high-availability solutions in cloud platforms.
Familiarity with automation and cloud technologies such as Ansible and AWS services, including EC2 and auto scaling.
Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
