Summary

Job Title: UX Designer (III)
Location: San Francisco, CA (Hybrid work: Tues-Thurs in the office. Monday & Friday remote)
Duration: Contract till November 2026
 
Responsibilities
  • Establishing a cohesive motion language that spans conceptual vision, stakeholder presentations, and final implementation.
  • Translate complex interactions into intuitive experiences, designing both interactive transitions and non-interactive informative flows that enhance usability and delight.
  • Establish and scale motion patterns and best practices, contributing to the broader design system to ensure brand consistency and high-quality execution across platforms.
  • Partner with UX Designers, PMs, and Engineers to define and solve complex interaction challenges, using motion to bridge the gap between static mocks and live products.
  • Manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, delivering polished motion solutions and detailed implementation specs under tight deadlines.
  • Establish a framework for project prioritization, ensuring motion design resources are strategically allocated to high-impact initiatives that drive core product goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Photos, and Android to develop innovative, motion-led solutions that reduce perceived latency and improve user flow.
  • Simplify complex concepts into clear, relatable narratives through storytelling and animation that represent real user journeys and emotional milestones.
  • Maintain a balance of strategic thinking and meticulous polish, ensuring every "big picture" animation and small-scale transition reinforces the overall product strategy.
Role summary
  • This is an exciting opportunity to influence beloved Client''s products by bringing our brand and interfaces to life through movement. We are looking for a seasoned Motion Designer to lead the definition of our motion language, establishing scalable patterns and standards that guide our teams as we grow. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on using motion to simplify complexity, evoke emotion, and harmonize end-to-end user journeys. The successful candidate will drive motion strategy, develop high-fidelity prototypes, and craft compelling narratives that bridge the gap between static design and interactive reality.
  • This position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams (PMs, Engineers, and Marketing) and building strong partnerships across Photos, Pixel, and Android. You will be an essential partner to the broader UX team—including leads, designers, researchers, and writers—ensuring that every transition and animation reinforces user value and product excellence. From conceptualizing the "big picture" vision to finessing the smallest interactive details, you will have a significant impact on how millions of users relive and share their memories.
Qualifications
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in designing motion for consumer-facing products
  • 6+ year of interacting with clients/leadership and owning end-to-end projects
  • Capability to build and hand off AE files for implementation via Lottie + Skottie
  • Understanding of JSON and how to work with eng for implementation
  • In-depth knowledge of current motion design trends and e2e workflowsStrong systems thinking approach to design
  • Experience managing complex projects involving cross-functional and cross-team stakeholder groups
  • Proven track record of designing and shipping successful large scale digital products
  • A positive, enthusiastic attitude and the ambition to tackle big opportunities.
  • Experience designing across platforms (Android, iOS & web)
  • Excellent visual design skills and strong communication skills
