Our client seeks a GitOps & CI/CD Engineer to design, implement, and optimize automation, deployment, and delivery platforms supporting enterprise application lifecycles. The role focuses on secure, observable, and repeatable delivery across development through production using a GitOps deployment model with Git as the source of truth. Collaboration with Software Engineering, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, QA, and Operations teams will ensure consistent build, test, packaging, configuration, deployment, promotion, and rollback practices.

Rate: $67.00 to $72.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, maintain, and improve GitOps deployment processes across enterprise environments.
  • Maintain Git repositories for Kubernetes application configuration, environment configuration, Helm values, manifests, and deployment definitions.
  • Manage and support GitOps tooling such as Argo CD for automated Kubernetes deployment and reconciliation.
  • Establish patterns for promoting versions through Development, QA, UAT, Staging, and Production.
  • Implement automated detection and remediation of configuration drift.
  • Maintain separation between application source, infrastructure code, environment configuration, and secrets.
  • Establish reusable GitOps templates and standards for teams.
  • Implement deployment approval and promotion processes per environment.
  • Maintain rollback and recovery processes for failed deployments.
  • Ensure production deployments are reproducible and traceable to approved source control changes.
  • Design, develop, and maintain CI pipelines to build and validate applications.
  • Develop reusable CI pipeline templates.
  • Automate compilation, dependency restoration, testing, security scanning, packaging, and artifact publication.
  • Manage container image builds and publication to enterprise registries.
  • Implement consistent versioning and artifact management.
  • Ensure immutable build artifacts and environment promotions.
  • Integrate automated unit, integration, security, dependency, and quality checks.
  • Optimize build performance, reliability, and feedback times.
  • Troubleshoot pipeline failures and reduce recurring delivery issues.
  • Support application deployment to Azure Kubernetes Service.
  • Develop Kubernetes deployment standards and reusable patterns.
  • Work with Helm, Kustomize, manifests, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Services, and Ingress or Gateway resources.
  • Support service mesh and ingress configuration where applicable.
  • Assist teams with containerization and Kubernetes requirements.
  • Ensure applications expose readiness, liveness, startup, and health checks.
  • Support zero-downtime and controlled deployment strategies.
  • Implement rolling updates, blue/green, or canary deployments as required.
  • Integrate delivery with Infrastructure as Code practices.
  • Develop automation with Terraform, PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Support Terraform-based Azure and Kubernetes infrastructure deployments.
  • Ensure source-control and peer-review practices for delivery.
  • Reduce manual configuration through automation.
  • Support CI/CD and GitOps integration with Azure services including AKS, ACR, Key Vault, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, managed identities, and private networking.
  • Support private build agents and secured access to internal resources.
  • Work within enterprise hub-and-spoke networking and private-cloud models.
  • Establish secure patterns for managing configuration across environments.
  • Integrate Kubernetes workloads with Azure Key Vault.
  • Ensure sensitive data is not stored in source control.
  • Support certificate lifecycle and secret rotation automation.
  • Separate static configuration from environment-specific configuration.
  • Embed security controls in CI/CD workflows, including dependency and container image scanning, static analysis, secret detection, infrastructure configuration and policy validation.
  • Collaborate with Security to meet security requirements.
  • Maintain RBAC and least-privilege access for agents, systems, and service accounts.
  • Ensure deployment activities are auditable and traceable.
  • Integrate applications with monitoring, logging, tracing, and alerting standards.
  • Support OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights.
  • Provide visibility into deployment status, failures, application health, and GitOps sync.
  • Assist with troubleshooting deployment and runtime issues.
  • Help define operational readiness for new services.
  • Develop and document enterprise CI/CD and GitOps standards.
  • Standardize repository structures, branching, pull requests, and workflows.
  • Define ownership boundaries across platform stakeholders.
  • Promote configuration changes through source-control workflows.
  • Participate in deployment and platform architecture reviews.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, security, repeatability, and productivity.
  • Enable developers with templates, examples, documentation, and reusable components.
  • Assist with Docker, Kubernetes, CI pipelines, GitOps configuration, and local development.
  • Simplify developer workflows with appropriate enterprise controls.
  • Provide technical guidance and troubleshooting for delivery.

Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience designing, implementing, or supporting modern CI/CD pipelines.
  • Strong knowledge of Git and source-control workflows.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
  • Experience with Docker and image creation.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience with scripting or automation using PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar.
  • Understanding of cloud computing, networking, identity, security, and configuration.
  • Understanding of SDLC and release management.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work across Development, Architecture, Infrastructure, Security, QA, and Operations.
  • Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Azure and deploying to AKS.
  • Preferred: Experience with Argo CD or other GitOps platforms.
  • Preferred: Experience with Helm and/or Kustomize.
  • Preferred: Experience with ACR, Key Vault, and Azure DevOps.
  • Preferred: Experience operating private Kubernetes clusters and private cloud.
  • Preferred: Experience with Istio or service mesh.
  • Preferred: Experience implementing DevSecOps scanning and policy enforcement.
  • Preferred: Experience with OpenTelemetry and cloud-native observability.
  • Preferred: Experience with Grafana, Loki, Tempo, Prometheus, Azure Monitor, or Application Insights.
  • Preferred: Experience with distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
  • Preferred: Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming platforms.
