We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer specializing in Collaboration to lead the strategic planning, implementation, optimization, and ongoing support of unified communication environments across client sites. In this role, you will oversee full-lifecycle project execution - directing both internal technical resources and customer personnel - to deliver complex Cisco UC migrations, upgrades, and consolidations on time and at a high standard. You will serve as a subject matter expert and senior escalation point for advanced collaboration issues including call routing, gateway debugging, inter-application connectivity, and root cause analysis, while producing detailed technical documentation, diagrams, and configurations throughout each engagement.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 5 years of enterprise-level experience with Cisco Unified Communications technologies (CUCM, Unity Connection, UCCX, IM and Presence) and a strong working knowledge of additional collaboration platforms such as Webex, RingCentral and Zoom. A deep understanding of VoIP, SIP, and H.323 protocols is required, along with hands-on experience configuring Cisco IP telephony endpoints and gateways. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, and relevant certifications such as Cisco CCIE/CCNP Collaboration. RingCentral or Zoom credentials are strongly desired. Excellent communication and client-facing consulting skills are essential.
This position requires residency in the Detroit Metro area. The role is structured as 75% remote/work-from-home with the remaining 25% allocated to on-site travel to local client sites as needed for installations, cutovers, and project delivery. This is a consultant (1099/contract to hire) engagement. Candidates must be able to operate as an independent consultant and be prepared to arrive on-site with the necessary tools and equipment to complete each project. Candidates should also be able to lift and move equipment up to 40 lbs and work comfortably in server and network equipment rooms when on-site.
