Position OverviewA
major entertainment client local to Richmond, VA is seeking a
Network Engineer to support the ongoing operation, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure across a multi-location environment. This role will work closely with the Senior Network Engineer as a
key operational partner, providing hands-on support to ensure network stability, performance, and security.
This is a
hybrid position, with an expectation that the selected candidate will periodically
travel to the Mechanicsville, VA area to support and service the organization's data center and network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, and wireless environments
- Assist in the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of network systems under the guidance of the Senior Network Engineer
- Configure and support network equipment, firewalls, and security controls (ACLs, IDS/IPS)
- Serve as a Tier 2 escalation point for network-related issues and assist with troubleshooting and ticket resolution
- Monitor network performance, respond to alerts, and help maintain system uptime and reliability
- Support and troubleshoot enterprise wired and wireless networks, including Cisco and Meraki environments
- Assist in maintaining secure connectivity across multiple remote locations
- Provide support for network monitoring tools and assist in proactive issue identification
- Assist with documentation, including network diagrams, procedures, and troubleshooting guides
- Support light Windows/Linux server troubleshooting as needed
- Participate in an on-call rotation and support after-hours work when required
- Collaborate with other IT teams to resolve issues and support ongoing infrastructure initiatives
Required Qualifications- 3-6+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
- Solid foundation in Cisco networking (switching and routing)
- Hands-on experience with Meraki and/or enterprise wireless networks
- Understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP)
- Exposure to firewall technologies (Palo Alto experience is a plus)
- Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark)
- Basic understanding of network security practices and standards
- Working knowledge of Windows or Linux environments
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take technical direction
