Genesis10 is currently seeking an Embedded Test Automation Engineer (Edge Devices) for an onsite contract position with a Global Medical Technology Company located in Portage, MI. This is a 3+ month contract opportunity. We are seeking an experienced Embedded Test Automation Engineer to support the development and automation of test solutions for edge device products. This role focuses on transforming existing manual test cases into automated test suites within a Python-based test automation framework. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience testing hardware products and embedded systems, rather than traditional IT application environments. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong technical judgment, the ability to work independently, and expertise in test automation, API testing, and device communication protocols.
Responsibilities: - Design, develop, execute, and maintain automated test solutions for edge devices and gateway products
- Convert existing manual test cases into automated tests using a Python-based automation framework
- Develop and execute API test strategies for embedded and connected device platforms
- Validate device functionality, performance, and communication protocols
- Analyze test results, troubleshoot failures, and support root cause investigations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve product quality and testing efficiency
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Runner
- Support continuous improvement of test processes, standards, and automation frameworks
Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in test automation, software testing, or embedded systems validation
- Experience testing hardware products, embedded systems, or edge devices
- Strong proficiency in Python for test automation development
- Experience with PyTest and automated test framework development
- Hands-on experience with ReadyAPI and API testing methodologies
- Knowledge of REST and SOAP web services testing
- Experience with HTTP protocols and API validation
- Understanding of CAN Communication Protocol
- Experience working with edge computing devices, gateways, or IoT products
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and test integration using GitHub Runner
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills
Desired skills: - Experience with Wi-Fi and RF testing
- Background in IoT, industrial automation, connected devices, or networking products
- Experience validating communications between hardware and software systems
Pay range: $62.60 - $72.60 per hour
