Overview
We’re looking for a Business Intelligence Developer to drive data visualization and reporting initiatives for federal government clients. This role centers on building scalable, high-performance dashboards using Power BI and Azure technologies, while partnering closely with stakeholders to turn data into meaningful, decision-ready insights.
Responsibilities
- Spearhead development and delivery of critical reports and dashboards for federal government clients
- Utilize Microsoft Power BI and other Microsoft reporting tools in a cloud environment to address data needs
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand requirements and support ongoing report development
- Design, develop, and implement operational and analytic reports, visualizations, dashboards, and data extracts
- Reengineer existing Power BI and SSRS reports to source data from Azure data lake, Synapse Analytics, and Azure SQL Managed Instance
- Analyze ETL logic and data sources such as SQL Server databases and SSAS cubes to understand data transformations
- Optimize report performance through visual tuning, DAX queries, Power Query, data models, and caching
- Leverage Azure data services to design and develop reports aligned with user needs
- Collaborate with data modelers, architects, engineers, and business analysts to support data transformation and modeling for Power BI
- Support Power BI administration, including workspaces, access, gateway, and cloud data sources
- Ensure reports comply with data governance policies and incorporate AI/ML techniques like Power BI Copilot
- Assist Help Desk with incident management and end-user training
- Support Agile DevOps processes and participate in continuous learning initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of relevant experience
- At least 4 years of experience delivering reports, visualizations, and analytics with Power BI, including Power BI Cloud Service, Desktop, and Report Server
- Hands-on experience working directly with end users to gather requirements and support reports
- Proficient with Microsoft BI Stack (Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS)
- Strong skills in report performance tuning, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling
- Experience with SQL databases (OLTP, OLAP), flat files, multi-dimensional models, TSQL, DAX/MDX, and Power Query
- Understanding of Azure-based data services such as Synapse Analytics
- Experience working in Agile environments with multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and skill development
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in team settings
- Must be able to obtain a government-issued Public Trust clearance
