Senior Network Engineer
Main requirements for this role include in-depth knowledge for the following:
1. Runbook buildout and execution, you have written, owned, and run detailed technical runbooks in a real deployment environment.
2. Technical documentation, you produce documentation that engineers can actually use, and you understand that good docs prevent field failures.
3. QA and quality process, you have built or run formal QA processes in a network engineering context and you know what a quality gate looks like.
Preferred: Experience with one or more of the following deployment types:
Circuit rollouts (cellular, DIA, or WAN circuit deployments at scale)
Firewall rollouts (policy-driven, multi-site enterprise firewall deployments)
Router / switch rollouts (enterprise routing, VLAN design, switching at branch or data center scale)
Quality Assurance Process and Documentation
Our enterprise banking client is seeking a Senior Network Engineer with senior engineer or architect level experience to lead quality assurance, runbook ownership, and process excellence for a large scale, multi vendor network deployment program.
This is not a hands on configuration role. Instead, this position is ideal for a seasoned network professional who has spent years deploying circuits, firewalls, or routing and switching infrastructure and now applies that experience through oversight, quality gates, documentation ownership, and disciplined process execution.
Your impact will be measured by how effectively you prevent defects, improve consistency, and ensure that every device shipped meets documented standards.
What You Will Do
Quality Assurance and Oversight
Perform pre shipment quality assurance reviews of network device configurations across Fortinet, Juniper, and Cradlepoint platforms
Serve as the final technical review and quality gate before devices are released for shipment
Validate configurations against detailed multi step runbooks and standards to identify errors, omissions, or deviations
Provide real time oversight and coaching to engineers during staging and build activities without directly performing configurations
Runbook and Process Ownership
Review, validate, and continuously improve technical runbooks covering the full device build lifecycle
Ensure runbooks accurately reflect the current thirty five step configuration standard
Update documentation immediately when issues are discovered so lessons learned are captured and reused
Drive strong change control discipline by ensuring deviations are documented, reviewed, and approved
Technical Documentation and Knowledge Management
Develop and maintain clear technical documentation that engineers can follow without prior project context
Document the ecosystem of systems involved in the build process, including sixteen source systems and approximately twenty five required data points per device
Create templates, checklists, and reference materials that reduce risk and improve consistency in a highly manual environment
Customer and Cross Functional Engagement
Communicate quality assurance status, readiness, and outcomes to internal and customer stakeholders
Provide written and verbal updates on findings, exceptions, and resolutions
Partner with project managers, logistics teams, and senior engineers throughout the device build and shipping lifecycle
What We Are Looking For
We are intentionally not limiting this role to a specific vendor certification or technology stack. We are looking for experienced network professionals who bring depth in at least one of the following areas.
Required Experience
Demonstrated depth in one or more of the following:
Runbook creation, ownership, and execution in real deployment environments
Technical documentation that engineers can reliably execute
Quality assurance or quality process ownership in a network engineering context
Experience with at least one of the following deployment backgrounds:
Large scale circuit rollouts including cellular, DIA, or WAN
Enterprise firewall deployments across multiple sites
Enterprise routing and switching deployments
Eight or more years of progressive network engineering experience with senior engineer or architect level exposure
Strong foundational understanding of networking including circuits, routing, switching, VLAN design, and centralized management platforms
Strong change control mindset with an emphasis on process discipline and quality outcomes
Excellent written communication skills and customer facing professionalism
Preferred Experience
Experience with FortiManager or similar centralized network management platforms
Familiarity with Fortinet, Juniper, or Cradlepoint environments
Experience supporting large scale, repeatable network deployment programs
What Success Looks Like
Configuration defects do not reach the customer site
Runbooks are accurate, current, and trusted by the engineering team
Engineers follow established procedures consistently and deviations are formally reviewed
New team members ramp quickly using clear, reliable documentation
Field issues result in immediate root cause analysis and same day runbook updates
