Senior Software Engineer, Backend & Streaming

We are not accepting C2C or 1099 arrangements.

Contract Duration: 12 months, with potential to extend up to 24 months and/or convert to a full-time position

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and support scalable backend applications and event-driven solutions. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, reactive programming, Kafka, and modern data technologies, along with experience building RESTful APIs.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong software engineering foundation and experience working with distributed systems, streaming technologies, and both relational and NoSQL databases. Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic architectures, or agent development frameworks is highly valued.

This is a 12-month contract with the potential to extend for up to 24 months and/or convert to a full-time position. Conversion eligibility is preferred but is not required. The primary focus is identifying the strongest candidate for the role.
Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering experience demonstrated through work experience, training, military experience, education, or a combination of these.
• 4+ years of experience developing applications with Java, including hands-on experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
• 2+ years of experience with Python, particularly for backend services or data-driven applications.
• Strong understanding of reactive programming, including hands-on experience with Spring WebFlux.
• Experience with Apache Kafka and event-driven or asynchronous architectures.
• Experience with Apache Flink for stream processing and data pipeline development.
• Experience working with both MongoDB and Oracle databases.
• 2+ years of experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience working with cloud technologies and cloud-based application environments.
• Experience within a large-scale financial services or enterprise technology environment.
• Exposure to Large Language Models (LLMs) and generative AI technologies.
• Understanding of agentic architectures and AI agent development concepts.
• Knowledge of prompt engineering techniques and best practices.
• Familiarity with Agent Development Kit (ADK), Playbook, or comparable agentic development frameworks.
• Experience developing highly scalable, resilient, and distributed applications.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work effectively in complex enterprise environments.

What Will Help You Stand Out

Candidates with a combination of strong backend engineering experience and exposure to emerging AI technologies will be particularly well aligned with this opportunity. Relevant experience with WF, ADK, LLMs, or agentic AI frameworks is especially valuable.

Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate depth in the core technical stack rather than general familiarity across a broad range of technologies.
