Summary

We are seeking a QA/QC Technician to support telecom work inside a data center environment in Charleston, SC. This role is focused on quality assurance and inspection, not installation. You will be responsible for reviewing completed work to ensure cabling, equipment, and racks meet industry standards, customer requirements, and documentation expectations.
If you have a sharp eye for detail, enjoy working independently, and take pride in ensuring work is done correctly, this role is an excellent fit. You will spend your day inspecting completed installs, identifying quality issues or risks, and clearly documenting findings for site leadership.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Perform daily quality inspections of completed telecom and structured cabling work
  • Inspect fiber and copper cabling, telecom equipment, racks, and cable dressing
  • Use checklists to verify work meets industry standards (BICSI, TIA, manufacturer specifications)
  • Identify quality issues, risks, or areas for improvement
  • Document findings clearly, accurately, and professionally
  • Share QA/QC reports with site teams and QA/QC leadership
  • Occasionally assist with training field teams on quality standards and best practices
  • Stay current on industry standards, guidelines, and inspection requirements

Important: This is a quality auditing role. All equipment and cabling will already be installed when you arrive. You are inspecting and verifying completed work - not performing installations.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to think like an auditor rather than an installer
  • Comfort identifying and documenting deficiencies or non-conforming work
  • Professional communication skills on active job sites
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage your own workday
  • Willingness to learn, grow, and develop within the QA/QC function

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of structured cabling experience
  • Solid understanding of proper cable installation methods and industry standards
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Copper and fiber cabling
    • Rack layouts and cable management
    • Telecom or data center environments (or strong foundational cabling experience)

Experience outside of data centers is acceptable if core fundamentals are strong (CAT5/CAT6 installs, fiber work, telecom environments, etc.).

Nice to Have

  • Fiber optic inspection or testing experience
  • Previous QA/QC or inspection experience
  • Technical support or troubleshooting background
  • Outside Plant (OSP) exposure

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Primarily based at a single data center in Charleston, SC
  • Occasional support at other nearby sites
  • Overtime is available and may be required at times
  • Fast-paced but organized environment with clear expectations and processes
