Eastern Bank is looking for a technically fluent Senior UX Designer with deep roots in regulated industries and a strong financial services background. You'll be working to modernize the bank’s digital channels and reimagine what digital banking looks like in the future. You will span across different platforms to ensure our digital experiences are best-in-class and adhere to our design standards. This is a contract role with high potential for full-time conversion for the right candidate.
What You'll Do
· Lead UX strategy and execution across multiple, complex, multi-stakeholder financial products
· Work fluidly in Figma – from early wireframes through high-fidelity specs and design systems
· Design and prototype within Salesforce ecosystems
· Partner closely with engineering and product to ensure designs are technically grounded and feasible
· Navigate regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g. accessibility mandates, audit trails, data disclosure) as first-class design constraints
· Plan and execute unmoderated and moderated research studies via UserTesting.com, and synthesize findings into actionable design direction
· Own the design system end-to-end – governance, component architecture, versioning, documentation, and adoption across product teams
· Leverage Figma MAKE, Claude Code, and Claude Design to accelerate prototyping, generate UI variations, and explore interaction patterns at speed
· Keep an eye towards what’s next – new tools and advancements in the UX space
What We're Looking For
Experience
· 12+ years of UX design experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates progression in complexity and ownership
· Demonstrated experience in financial services, fintech, banking, insurance, or a similarly regulated domain
· Hands-on experience designing within or alongside Salesforce products (Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Financial Services Cloud, or similar)
Technical Fluency
· Expert-level Figma skills - components, auto-layout, variables, prototyping, and dev handoff
· Experience using Claude Code and Claude Design
· Able to read and interpret code (HTML/CSS at minimum); experience collaborating on design systems implemented in React or similar frameworks
· Proficient with UserTesting.com — building test plans, recruiting via the panel, and deriving insights from session data
· Familiarity with API-driven UIs, data-heavy dashboards, and complex form flows
· Experience with Salesforce
Domain Knowledge
· Understanding of financial products, workflows, and terminology (e.g. account management, transactions, compliance reporting, advisory flows)
· Experience designing under legal, risk, & regulatory constraints
· Sensitivity to the trust, risk, and transparency requirements unique to financial/banking UX
Ways of Working
· Experience working in Agile/SCRUM teams
· Balancing self-motivation and being reactive to the team
· Strong communication skills – you can present rationale to compliance, engineering, and executive audiences
· A systems thinker who sweats interaction details without losing sight of the bigger picture
· Leave the ego at the door –you will be part of a team and the team come first
· Lunch-pail UX – sometimes you just have to get it done and out the door, perfect comes later.
· Experience with data visualization for financial reporting or analytics
· Background in enterprise SaaS or B2B product design
· Familiarity with accessibility auditing tools and assistive technology testing
Prior experience in banking, wealth management, insurance, or fintech
