Appian Architect-Hybrid

Position Overview

We are seeking a strong Appian Architect with 14+ years of enterprise experience to join the Shared Services Appian Architecture team . This is a high-visibility, high-impact role requiring a technically dominant architect capable of designing enterprise-scale Appian platforms, driving architectural strategy, and delivering solutions that outperform and elevate existing shared services teams.

The ideal candidate will bring deep architectural expertise, exceptional hands-on Appian capabilities, and the intellectual leadership required to outpace and mentor highly experienced Appian professionals.

This role requires someone who can challenge the status quo, modernize Appian implementations, and architect scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Define and own the enterprise Appian architecture strategy for shared services platforms.

• Architect high-performance, scalable, secure Appian solutions aligned with enterprise standards.

• Lead the design and implementation of complex workflows, case management systems, and enterprise integrations.

• Evaluate existing Appian implementations and introduce optimization, modernization, and performance improvements.

• Serve as the technical authority and escalation point for complex architecture and production challenges.

Shared Services Platform Ownership

• Design reusable Appian components, frameworks, and shared services modules.

• Establish and enforce Appian architectural governance, standards, and best practices.

• Drive platform scalability, resiliency, and performance tuning.

• Enable enterprise-wide reuse and standardization across multiple business units.

Hands-On Development & Engineering Excellence

• Design and implement:

  • Complex SAIL interfaces

  • Process models

  • Integration objects

  • Expression rules

  • CDTs and data models

• Architect integrations with enterprise systems using:

  • REST APIs

  • SOAP services

  • Web services

  • Messaging and event-driven architectures

Performance Optimization & Platform Engineering

• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks across Appian layers.

• Optimize database interactions, process efficiency, and UI responsiveness.

• Implement advanced Appian platform tuning strategies.

Mentorship & Technical Influence

• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior Appian developers.

• Elevate the technical capabilities of the shared services team.

• Influence enterprise architecture decisions and Appian roadmap.

Required Qualifications

• 14+ years of overall IT experience in enterprise application development and architecture

• 8+ years of deep Appian experience

• 5+ years in Appian Architecture roles

• Proven experience architecting enterprise-scale Appian implementations

Preferred Qualifications

• Appian Certified Lead Developer or Architect Certification

• Experience working in large enterprise shared services environments

• Experience in financial services domain (strongly preferred)

• Experience with:

  • Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure)

  • CI/CD pipelines

  • DevOps for Appian

  • Containerization and modern architecture patterns
