Role Summary
We are looking for a strong Business Analyst with experience in HR technology, HR transformation, or enterprise software delivery. This role requires a candidate who has solid functional understanding of HR processes and technical awareness to partner effectively with engineering, product, QA, integration, and business teams.
The ideal candidate should be able to own complex requirements, translate HR business needs into clear functional and technical specifications, support product delivery, and coordinate across multiple stakeholders. This role is best suited for someone who understands HR domain areas such as core HR, payroll, compensation, benefits, talent, performance, employee experience, HR operations, or HR service delivery, and can help drive technology projects from discovery through implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Product, Engineering, QA, and business stakeholders to gather, analyze, document, and manage requirements for HR technology initiatives.
- Own detailed business and functional requirements for HR systems, workflows, integrations, reporting, data migration, process improvements, and employee-facing experiences.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mapping documents, BRDs, functional specifications, and backlog items for engineering and QA teams.
- Work closely with product managers and technical teams to clarify requirements, support solution design, resolve open questions, and ensure business expectations are correctly translated into system capabilities.
- Apply strong HR domain knowledge to identify process gaps, compliance considerations, operational risks, and downstream impacts across HR, Payroll, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and IT teams.
- Support HR technology implementations, enhancements, and transformation projects across areas such as core HR, payroll, compensation, benefits, talent management, performance management, employee experience, reporting, and HR service delivery.
- Coordinate cross-functional meetings, requirement workshops, solution walkthroughs, sprint ceremonies, testing discussions, defect triage, and business readiness sessions.
- Support Agile delivery by maintaining well-defined user stories, prioritizing backlog items with product owners, tracking dependencies, and ensuring requirements are ready for development.
- Collaborate with QA and business users to define test scenarios, validate requirement coverage, support UAT, review defects, and ensure delivered functionality meets business needs.
- Work with technical teams to understand integrations, APIs, data flows, system dependencies, security considerations, and release impacts at a functional level.
- Create and maintain process maps, workflow diagrams, data flow diagrams, requirement traceability matrices, decision logs, issue logs, and stakeholder communication materials.
- Support go-live readiness, cutover planning, training documentation, user adoption, hyper care, and post-release issue resolution.
Required Experience
- Experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst, Functional Analyst, HR Technology Analyst, or similar role supporting enterprise software or HR technology projects.
- Strong functional understanding of HR business processes such as core HR, payroll, compensation, benefits, talent management, performance management, employee lifecycle, onboarding/offboarding, HR operations, or employee service delivery.
- Experience working on HR technology platforms such as Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, Oracle HCM, PeopleSoft, ServiceNow HRSD, ADP, UKG/Kronos, or similar enterprise HR systems.
- Demonstrated experience writing clear business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and test scenarios.
- Good understanding of software delivery practices, including Agile/Scrum, SDLC, sprint planning, backlog management, QA/UAT, defect management, release planning, and production support.
- Ability to understand technical concepts such as integrations, APIs, data migration, data mapping, system interfaces, access/security roles, reporting, and environment readiness.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, Engineering, QA, Product, vendors, and business teams.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, ask the right questions, challenge unclear requirements, and drive alignment across multiple teams.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain business requirements to technical teams and technical constraints to business stakeholders.
