Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Linux Systems Engineer to support and improve our IT infrastructure. This role focuses on installing, upgrading, maintaining, and supporting Linux servers. You will help ensure systems are highly available, secure, and ready for disaster recovery. You may also guide or support junior administrators.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and support Linux servers (Red Hat and Oracle Linux)
Perform Linux patching, upgrades, migrations, and virtualization
Provide Tier 3 support for complex system issues
Monitor, configure, and upgrade systems across multiple data centers
Support development and production environments
Plan and implement disaster recovery solutions
Design and deploy new systems and technologies
Monitor system performance and activities
Manage IT assets and server inventories
Provide 24/7 support for critical production and facility systems when required
Scope of Work
Support application and infrastructure servers (MIS, MOS, NES environments)
Operate and manage multiple data center environments
Ensure system availability for production and facility operations
Participate in system planning, improvements, and long-term projects
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions such as Red Hat, Oracle Linux, CentOS, Rocky Linux
Experience with Linux patching, upgrades, and troubleshooting
Solid knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware preferred)
Experience with storage technologies including NetApp and EMC
LUN management, iSCSI, Fibre Channel, NFS, CIFS, and NDMP
Strong understanding of system logs and problem analysis
Hands-on scripting experience with Bash, KornShell, Perl, or Python
Preferred Skills
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
Ability to design and deploy open-source applications on Linux
Experience with system architecture and automation
Education & Experience
Associate degree or higher (or equivalent work experience)
5+ years of experience as a Linux Systems Engineer
