P6 Project Scheduler

Job Description

We are seeking an P6 Project Scheduler to support project delivery through detailed schedule development, analysis, and reporting. This role partners closely with Project Managers and field leadership to ensure schedules accurately reflect project scope, logic, and progress from implementation through completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Project Manager to develop, maintain, and analyze Primavera P6 schedules that manage time, sequencing, and resources.
  • Create project timetables to ensure work is completed on time and in alignment with delivery milestones.
  • Monitor customer delivery timelines and job installation progress.
  • Coordinate with Project Management and field Leads/Superintendents to build and maintain project calendars through completion.
  • Identify, anticipate, and resolve schedule discrepancies; escalate risks or variances to Project Management as needed.
  • Provide required schedule data and analysis to support Weekly and Monthly Project Reports.
  • Support continuous schedule updates, progress tracking, and critical path analysis.
  • Perform additional scheduling and project controls duties as assigned.

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Primavera P6 (Enterprise Project Structure, CPM, resource loading)
  • Project scheduling and planning
  • Schedule logic development and maintenance
  • Critical Path Method (CPM) analysis
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) fundamentals
  • Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) development and summarization
  • Milestones, activity relationships, and schedule levels
  • Resource setup, tracking, and reporting

Interview & Technical Screening Topics

Candidates should be prepared to discuss:
  • Primavera P6 versions and daily responsibilities as a project scheduler
  • Critical Path definition and CPM methodology
  • Open-ended activities and schedule health best practices
  • Enterprise Project Structure (EPS) and node usage
  • Schedule levels (Level 1-5) and when each is appropriate
  • Finished milestones and milestone relationship types
  • Tracking start vs. finish activities and activity type selection
  • Creating WBS summaries and schedule rollups
  • Schedule update inputs and showcase/critical path reporting
  • Use of shortcut keys and productivity features in P6
  • Resource setup, loading, and total resource demand reporting
  • Earned Value reporting and resource loading calculations
  • Building a schedule from scratch, including establishing the EPS/ETS

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Self-motivated, positive, and professional; capable of leading others in schedule and process improvement initiatives.
  • Promotes company culture and mission when working with employees, vendors, clients, and business partners.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).
  • Proven ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and other project documentation.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to company-specific project management systems.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $53.00 - $62.00/hr.
