Summary

This is a fully remote, full-time UX Writer opportunity with a leading electric and utility company, supporting digital products used by millions of customers across the East Coast. The team builds and maintains customer-facing and internal platforms that support energy usage, billing, outages, and service management. You'll work closely with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to shape clear, compliant, and user-friendly content across web and application experiences.

This role is perfect for a UX Writer who understands that language matters even more in regulated industries. The team is specifically looking for someone with prior experience in electric or utility environments who already understands the terminology, constraints, and customer expectations that come with energy services. You'll have the chance to influence large-scale digital experiences, improve clarity during critical user moments (like outages and billing), and help modernize how customers interact with essential services - all while maintaining strong work-life balance in a fully remote setup.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Professional experience as a UX Writer, Content Designer, or Product Writer
  • Prior experience working at an electric or utility company (required)
  • Strong understanding of utility-specific language (billing, outages, service requests, usage, meters, rates, etc.)
  • Experience writing UX microcopy, error messaging, onboarding flows, and in-product content
  • Ability to collaborate closely with UX designers, product managers, and engineers
  • Experience working in regulated or compliance-driven environments
  • Must be based on the East Coast (US)
Desired Skills & Experience
  • Experience supporting large-scale customer-facing platforms
  • Familiarity with accessibility and inclusive language standards
  • Experience working with design systems and content guidelines
  • Background in simplifying complex or technical information for end users
  • Experience contributing to content strategy or voice-and-tone frameworks
What You Will Be Doing Tech Breakdown
  • Content creation within digital products (web & applications)
  • Collaboration with UX, Product, and Engineering teams
  • Content refinement for compliance, clarity, and consistency
Daily Responsibilities
  • Writing and refining UX copy (microcopy, flows, error states, system messages)
  • Partnering with designers to ensure content supports usability and accessibility
  • Collaborating with product and legal/compliance teams to ensure accuracy
