  • Implement row-level security; manage workspaces, deployment pipelines, scheduled refreshes and gateways.

Data modeling

  • Build semantic models (star schema, dimensional modeling); write DAX and Power Query; optimize performance and refresh times.

Azure data platform architecture and build

  • Design the Azure data platform architecture (data warehouse and/or data lake) with the solution architect.
  • Build pipelines from the agency’s SQL Server applications and external sources using Azure Data Factory, Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.
  • Support structured, semi-structured and unstructured data, including documents and files.
  • Build real-time and streaming data ingestion.
  • Prepare curated datasets for analytics and the agency’s AI pilot.

Data quality and governance

  • Validation, quality checks and reconciliation between source systems and reports.
  • Document data sources, definitions and lineage.
  • Follow CJIS and state data security requirements for criminal-justice data.

Support

  • Fix report and pipeline issues; support users with report questions.
  • Update reports as applications are enhanced and upgraded.

Required qualifications (must be clearly proven on the resume)

  • 7+ years of hands-on Power BI development at enterprise scale: semantic models, DAX, Power Query, report and dashboard design. The resume must state the number of users, data volumes and number of reports or dashboards delivered.
  • Power BI Service administration: workspaces, deployment pipelines, gateways, scheduled refresh, row-level security.
  • Designed and built at least one Azure data platform (data warehouse and/or data lake) using Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, and Azure Synapse or Microsoft Fabric.

  • Structured, semi-structured and unstructured data.

  • Based in the U.S.; able to pass a CJIS fingerprint background check.
  • Available for the full two-year term; accepts variable hours.

Preferred qualifications

  3. Describe a real-time or streaming data pipeline you built. Which tools did you use?
