Job Title: Senior Databricks & Power BI Data Engineer / Analyst

Location: Delaware (Onsite requirement: 4 days per week / 1 day remote)

Job Type: Contract

Experience Level: 8+ Years

Position Summary

We are looking for an experienced Databricks & Power BI Data Engineer / Analyst to join our data team in Delaware. In this role, you will bridge the gap between large-scale data processing and impactful business intelligence. You will design, build, and optimize robust data pipelines within a modern Lakehouse architecture (Databricks) and translate complex data assets into high-performance Power BI semantic models and dashboards.

The ideal candidate has deep expertise in PySpark/SQL, Delta Lake, and Power BI development, paired with a willingness to collaborate closely with stakeholders on-site 4 days a week in Delaware.

Key Responsibilities

Data Engineering & Lakehouse Development:

Design, develop, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using Azure Databricks, Delta Lake, and PySpark.

Build and manage multi-hop data architectures (Bronze, Silver, Gold layers) to process structured and unstructured data.

Optimize data workflows, clusters, and queries for performance, high reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Power BI & Semantic Modeling:

Architect, build, and deploy enterprise-grade Power BI dashboards, reports, and interactive visualizations.

Develop and manage optimized Power BI semantic models (shared datasets), tabular models, and complex DAX measures.

Implement Power Query (M) transformations, dataflows, and incremental refresh strategies to ensure high-performance reporting.

Data Modeling & Governance:

Apply data warehousing principles, dimensional modeling (star/snowflake schemas), and data governance best practices.

Establish data quality checks, reconciliation mechanisms, and automated validation rules within data pipelines.

Collaboration & Onsite Execution:

Work closely on-site (4 days a week) with business stakeholders, data analysts, and architects in Delaware to gather requirements and deliver aligned data products.

Document data architecture, data flows, lineage, and metric definitions for cross-functional team enablement.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or BI development roles.

Databricks & Cloud Core: Extensive experience with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, PySpark, Delta Lake, and cloud data lakes (ADLS Gen2 / AWS S3).

BI & Visualization: Deep expertise in Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, data modeling, DAX, and Power Query.

Database & Querying: Advanced SQL programming skills with experience designing schemas, tables, and views.

Practices: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, version control (Git), and data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Databricks Workflows).

Work Style: Comfortable committing to a 4-day onsite schedule at our Delaware office.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related quantitative field.

Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or Power BI Data Analyst Associate certifications.

Exposure to AI-assisted coding tools or data lineage frameworks.
