Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support enterprise database operations by designing, administering, optimizing, and maintaining mission-critical database environments. This role involves managing SQL Server and Oracle databases, supporting database architecture and performance tuning, collaborating with development teams, and ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable database solutions that support enterprise applications.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain enterprise SQL Server, Oracle, and GIS database environments.
  • Design, develop, and optimize database schemas to support business and application requirements.
  • Plan, implement, and maintain database structures and storage strategies.
  • Monitor database health, availability, security, and performance.
  • Perform database performance analysis, optimization, and tuning.
  • Conduct SQL code reviews and recommend performance improvements.
  • Develop and maintain database administration standards, procedures, and documentation.
  • Support database activities for application enhancements, upgrades, and modernization efforts.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of enterprise data architecture.
  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, project managers, and technical teams to develop efficient database solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production database issues.
  • Ensure database environments comply with organizational security and data governance standards.
  • Mentor junior technical staff and provide database administration guidance.
  • Participate in infrastructure planning and other database-related initiatives as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor''''s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Minimum 5 years of database administration experience supporting enterprise environments.
  • Expert-level experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012 or newer.
  • Experience administering Oracle Database 10g or newer.
  • Strong understanding of relational database design principles and best practices.
  • Experience with database performance monitoring, tuning, and optimization.
  • Experience designing and maintaining database schemas.
  • Experience writing, reviewing, and optimizing SQL code.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting enterprise production environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure SQL.
  • Experience with AWS database services and SQL tools.
  • Experience administering ArcGIS Server environments.
  • Experience with GIS and spatial databases.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data warehousing or data architecture initiatives.
  • Experience mentoring junior DBAs and technical staff.
  • Experience working on large-scale enterprise application development projects.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to estimate effort, prioritize work, and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Work Environment

  • Full-time contract
