Traffic Engineering Lead in our
Oakland, Los Angeles, or Ontario offices. In this role, you will work on the design of a variety of sustainable transportation projects and work on projects focused on making a positive impact on communities around the country.

Key Responsibilities- Develop traffic signal plans, street lighting plans, ITS design, signing/striping layouts, temporary traffic control plans (TCPs), and PS&E packages using AutoCAD/MicroStation
- Apply MUTCD, Caltrans, NACTO, FHWA, and local agency standards to design solutions
- Collaborate with engineers and planners to integrate bike/pedestrian, transit, and safety enhancements into designs
- Lead and mentor junior staff in design best practices and contribute to internal training
- Implement best practices and process improvements to enhance project efficiency
- Help lead the traffic group and support business development efforts
- Develop proposals and manage client relationships
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including scope, schedule, and budget oversight
- Supervise and support professional development of staff members
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseRequiredThis position requires a combination of skills, experience and education including, but not limited to
- 8-12+ years of experience as a Traffic Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer License (P.E.)
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or MicroStation
- Demonstrated expertise in traffic signal design, traffic analysis, and signal timing
- Demonstrated experience preparing Plans, Specifications and Estimates packages for traffic design related projects (signals, striping, TCPs, ITS, street lighting)
- Demonstrated experience in traffic signal analysis using Synchro, Sidra, Vistro, or Vissim and providing traffic analysis reports
- Demonstrated experience in developing traffic signal timing sheets, Railroad pre-emption calculations, and signal timing strategies as it pertains to alternative transportation users
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage competing priorities and multiple simultaneous projects with cross-functional teams
- Experience with proposal writing and business development
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, MS Project or equivalent
There are a number of additional skills, experience, and education that would be beneficial to this position including, but not limited to:
- Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) and/or California Traffic Engineer (TE) Licensure
- Transportation planning/operations experience: multimodal corridor studies or Vision Zero initiatives
- Experience in active, non-motorized transportation planning and design
- Proficiency in AGI and/or Visual Lighting
- Active participation in industry-relevant professional associations and committees

CompensationThe pay range for this job in
Ontario is
$120,000-$150,000 annually. Placement within the range is based upon experience, skill-sets, and qualifications.
