Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Java Developer to develop Java applications and web services. This project is expected to continue through December 2026 with the possibility of extension based on funding and project requirements.

The selected candidate will work with a team of application developers, engineers, and subject matter experts. Responsibilities include developing new applications, replacing legacy systems, and maintaining existing Java web applications for both public users and internal staff.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain Java applications and RESTful web services.
Replace legacy systems and enhance existing web applications.
Develop applications using Java EE technologies, including EJB and JSF.
Support authentication using OAuth2 and OpenAM standards.
Work with PostgreSQL databases for data storage and querying.
Support CI/CD pipelines in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Ensure compliance with agency security standards and encryption practices.
Provide system enhancements based on user requirements.
Work independently in a remote environment with occasional onsite visits if needed.

Required Qualifications

15 years of experience with Java Core, Java EE (JEE), Java Persistence API (JPA), and JPQL.
5 years of experience with Java Server Faces (JSF) / PrimeFaces.
10 years of experience with PostgreSQL SQL and PL/pgSQL.
5 years of experience with cloud development processes in AWS.
5 years of experience developing Java RESTful Web Services.
Knowledge of WCAG compatibility standards and implementation.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Database schema design
Java automated testing using Selenium
Application load testing with Apache JMeter or similar tools

Ability to analyze user requirements and implement business objectives
Ability to design system features and functionality
