Role Description
Staff Augmentation Request: Cyber Security Policy and Process Specialist
This request outlines the business justification for onboarding a Cyber Security staff augmentation resource to assist with policy and process development and implementation. Recent evaluations by an external cybersecurity advisory firm identified critical gaps in policies and procedures that require remediation to strengthen the organization's security posture. Current team bandwidth constraints hinder timely resolution of these issues while managing ongoing operations and strategic initiatives. The requested resource will focus on:
Developing and enhancing cybersecurity policies aligned with regulatory standards and industry's best practices.
Documenting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for consistent and compliant execution.
Facilitating remediation of audit findings to reduce risk exposure.
Expected outcomes include accelerated risk remediation, improved cybersecurity maturity, enhanced compliance, and operational efficiency. Failure to acquire this resource may result in delays, increased regulatory risk, and potential security incidents.
Skills and Requirement
Technical cybersecurity or IT experience (4-6 years) - must be hands-on and technical in nature.
Strong familiarity with SOPs, policies, and controls (but not required to perform control testing).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills - able to translate technical details to technical and non technical audiences.
Experience with Visio and Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint).
Ability to analyze processes, identify gaps, and recommend improvements.
Policy & Governance: Experience with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS) and drafting enforceable policies.
Policy and SOP Development: Strong process documentation skills; ability to create clear, practical operating procedures.
Risk & Compliance: Knowledge of regulatory standards (HIPAA, PCI-DSS, FERPA) and audit remediation.
Technical Security Knowledge: Familiarity with network, endpoint, identity, and cloud security controls.
Collaboration & Communication: Ability to engage stakeholders and translate technical risks into business language.
Bachelor's Degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Information Systems, or 4-6 years of equivalent relevant experience in cybersecurity, information security, or IT governance.
Familiarity with frameworks and standards: NIST, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, CIS, FERPA.
