Role Overview
This role is responsible for hands-on application development to support current and target processes. The position involves partnering with multiple technology teams to implement the target architecture and migrate to a strategic platform. This is an opportunity to work with data-intensive applications and contribute to complex systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform end-to-end Java application development.
- Utilize multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC for robust application performance.
- Implement frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, and Hibernate.
- Design and optimize data pipelines for performance and scalability.
- Discover, ingest, and integrate new real-time, streaming, and batch data sources.
- Load and manage large data sets within a Hadoop ecosystem.
- Compute complex logic in Spark platforms.
- Identify and resolve complex data engineering issues.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to other members of the data engineering team.
Required Qualifications
Education: A BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or any quantitative discipline is required.
Experience: A minimum of 9 years of experience in end-to-end Java application development is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience with Java UI technologies such as HTML5, Angular JS, Backbone JS, or Bootstrap is also required. Experience with software development in an Agile environment is necessary.
Technical Skills:- Core Java skills, including multi-threading, collections API, and JDBC.
- Frameworks: Spring, Spring Boot, JPA, Hibernate.
- Databases: Expertise in SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Big Data Technologies: Knowledge of Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Apache Kafka, Apache Hive, or Apache Flink.
- Fundamentals in computer science design, data structures, and algorithms.
- Performance tuning for data-intensive applications, including profiling and memory optimization.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in enterprise stress testing.
- Knowledge of risk domains such as credit, operational, and market risk.
- Experience with cloud computing or distributed computing.
