Job Title: Senior UiPath RPA Developer — Healthcare

Department: Intelligent Automation / Digital Transformation

Industry: Healthcare — Provider

Location: United States (Remote / Hybrid)

Experience Level: Senior (5+ Years RPA / 3+ Years Healthcare)

Reports To: Director, Intelligent Automation & Digital Transformation

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior UiPath RPA Developer with a strong technical foundation and meaningful experience in healthcare provider environments and Epic EHR systems. In this senior individual contributor role — with mentorship responsibilities — you will design, build, test, and maintain complex, production-grade automation solutions that streamline clinical operations, revenue cycle processes, and administrative workflows across the organization.

Your rare combination of deep UiPath development expertise and firsthand understanding of how provider organizations operate inside Epic will allow you to build automations that are not only technically sound but clinically accurate — bots that truly reflect how nurses, coders, billing specialists, and care coordinators work every day. You will serve as a technical authority within the Intelligent Automation Center of Excellence (CoE), setting standards, reviewing peer work, and guiding junior developers.

All solutions must be built to comply with HIPAA Privacy & Security Rules, HITECH, 21 CFR Part 11 (where applicable), Joint Commission standards, and the organization''''s data governance, security, and IT architecture policies.

Candidates should demonstrate proficiency across the following

UiPath platform components and development technologies:

UiPath Studio / StudioX | UiPath Orchestrator | REFramework (Robotic Enterprise Framework) | UiPath Test Suite | Document Understanding (DU) | AI Center / ML Models | Process Mining / Task Mining | Attended & Unattended Bots | UiPath Action Center | UiPath Automation Hub | UiPath Integration Service | API Automation (REST / SOAP) | VB.NET / C# Scripting | Python (Scripting / AI Integration) | SQL / Stored Procedures | Git / Source Control (CI/CD) | Azure DevOps / Jira | HL7 / FHIR R4 APIs | Epic FHIR / Chronicles APIs | Citrix / Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) | SAP / Web / Windows UI Automation EPIC MODULES

The ideal candidate has hands-on automation experience touching one or more of the following Epic application areas — either by building bots that interact with Epic or by deeply understanding their workflows:

Epic MyChart (Patient Portal) | Epic OpTime (Surgical / OR) | Epic Beaker (Laboratory) | Epic Radiant (Radiology) | Epic Cadence (Scheduling) | Epic Prelude (Registration / ADT) | Epic ClinDoc / Nursing | Epic HIM / Chart Completion | Epic Resolute Professional Billing | Epic Resolute Hospital Billing | Epic Tapestry (Managed Care) | Epic Willow (Pharmacy) | Epic Grand Central (ADT) | Epic Care Everywhere (HIE) | Epic Clarity / Caboodle (Reporting) | Epic FHIR R4 API / Interconnect | Chronicles / Cache DB | Epic Cogito / Reporting Workbench

Automation Design & Development

Design and build complex, production-grade UiPath automation solutions following REFramework architecture, CoE coding standards, modular design patterns, and reusable component principles.

Develop automations that interact with Epic EHR via UI automation (web, Citrix, Windows), Epic FHIR/Interconnect APIs, Chronicles data extracts, and Clarity/Caboodle reporting outputs — selecting the most resilient and maintainable approach for each scenario.

Architect end-to-end automation workflows spanning multiple systems: Epic, payer portals, clearinghouses, laboratory systems, imaging systems, pharmacy platforms, and internal LOB applications.

Implement robust exception handling, retry logic, error escalation, and transaction logging to ensure production stability and auditability — especially for workflows involving PHI.

Integrate UiPath Document Understanding (DU) to automate extraction and processing of unstructured healthcare documents: EOBs, remittance files, referral letters, lab reports, prior auth forms, and clinical summaries.

Build API-based automations using UiPath Integration Service or custom HTTP activities to connect with Epic FHIR R4, payer APIs (Change Healthcare, Availity), and internal microservices.

Epic EHR & Provider Domain Expertise

Apply deep working knowledge of Epic''''s navigation patterns, UI element structures, session handling, and version-specific behaviors to build stable, upgrade-resilient bots.

Understand and automate provider-side workflows including patient registration, appointment scheduling, order management, clinical documentation, charge capture, HIM/chart completion, claim submission, remittance posting, and denial management.

Work with Epic analysts and clinical informatics teams to understand Epic configuration changes (upgrades, new modules, workflow redesigns) and proactively assess impact on existing automation.

Identify and implement opportunities to use Epic-native data (Chronicles, Clarity queries, Cogito workbench reports) as structured inputs for automation — reducing dependency on fragile UI scraping.

Navigate Epic''''s FHIR R4 API and Interconnect endpoints to extract patient demographics, clinical data, scheduling information, and billing data for use in automation workflows.

Understand provider revenue cycle workflows — from charge capture and claim scrubbing through prior authorization, eligibility verification, remittance posting, and denial management — and translate them into reliable automation logic.

Technical Leadership & Code Quality

Serve as the technical authority and senior reviewer within the UiPath CoE — establishing and enforcing coding standards, design patterns, naming conventions, and documentation requirements.

Conduct thorough peer code reviews; provide constructive, specific feedback that elevates team skill and solution quality.

Lead technical design sessions and architecture reviews for new automation initiatives; recommend the right technology approach (UI, API, DU, AI/ML) for each use case.

Develop and maintain reusable libraries, custom activities, shared workflows, and utility functions that improve developer productivity across the team.

Champion DevOps practices: source control (Git), branching strategies, CI/CD pipeline integration with Azure DevOps or similar, and automated testing with UiPath Test Suite.

Mentor junior and mid-level RPA developers through code reviews, pair programming, technical coaching, and structured knowledge-sharing sessions.

UiPath Orchestrator & Production Operations

Configure and manage UiPath Orchestrator: robot provisioning, package deployment, queue management, asset and credential management, and scheduling.

Design and implement queue-based REFramework solutions for high-volume transaction processing — including dispatcher/performer patterns for revenue cycle and clinical workflows.

Establish and monitor production health: bot performance dashboards, SLA tracking, alert configuration, and failure notification workflows.

Lead root-cause analysis and resolution of production incidents; document findings and implement preventive fixes to reduce recurrence.

Manage environment promotion (Dev > SIT > UAT > Production) with proper change control, testing gates, and rollback procedures aligned with ITIL / ITSM practices.

Testing, Validation & Compliance

Author and execute comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, regression, and exception scenarios for every automation build — with special rigor for workflows that access PHI.

Ensure all automation solutions comply with HIPAA Privacy & Security Rules, HITECH, 21 CFR Part 11 (where applicable), and organizational data governance policies — including proper PHI masking, audit logging, and role-based credential management via Orchestrator Asset Store.

Support validation activities in regulated environments: IQ/OQ/PQ documentation, audit trail requirements, and traceability between requirements and test evidence.

Participate in security reviews and penetration testing of automation solutions; remediate findings in accordance with Information Security policies.

Document solution architecture, deployment runbooks, operational procedures, and support handoff materials for every production deployment.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

Collaborate closely with business analysts to review and refine Process Definition Documents (PDDs) — identifying technical feasibility issues, performance risks, and alternative approaches before development begins.

Participate in Agile ceremonies: sprint planning, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives — providing accurate effort estimates and transparent status on development tasks.

Contribute to CoE maturation: solution design templates, development standards documentation, onboarding guides for new developers, and reusable component catalogues.

Evaluate new UiPath capabilities (AI/ML, Process Mining, Task Mining, Autopilot) and provide technical recommendations on applicability to the healthcare automation portfolio.

Stay current with Epic release notes and new API capabilities; proactively assess and communicate technical implications for existing and planned automations.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Health Informatics, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of hands-on UiPath RPA development experience with a strong portfolio of production automations — including complex REFramework, queue-based, and API-integrated solutions.

3+ years of experience developing automation solutions in a healthcare provider environment (hospital, health system, academic medical center, or physician group).

Demonstrated working knowledge of Epic EHR — including hands-on experience automating workflows within one or more Epic modules (clinical, scheduling, HIM, revenue cycle, or reporting).

Understanding of provider-side healthcare operations: patient access, clinical documentation, charge capture, revenue cycle, HIM/coding, and care coordination workflows.

Expert-level proficiency with UiPath Studio, REFramework, Orchestrator, and at least one of: Document Understanding, API automation, or AI Center.

Strong programming skills in VB.NET and/or C#; experience with Python a plus.

Experience with SQL for querying databases used in healthcare workflows (Epic Clarity, Caboodle, or ancillary system databases).

Experience with Git-based source control and CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or equivalent).

Solid understanding of HIPAA Privacy & Security Rules, HITECH, and PHI data-handling requirements in automated workflows.

Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to debug complex, multi-system automation failures in production environments.

Must be authorized to work in the United States.

UiPath Certified Advanced RPA Developer (UiARD) — strongly preferred.

UiPath Certified Automation Developer Professional or UiPath Certified Solution Architect.

Experience with Epic FHIR R4 / Interconnect API development — reading/writing patient, clinical, scheduling, or billing data programmatically.
