Position : Data Warehouse Architect
Location : Lansing, MI Hybrid (Wed & Thurs)
Duration : 12+ months contract
Overview
This position will focus on Teradata, data warehouse architecture, ETL/data integration, batch processing, production support, security, Linux, data quality, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will work closely with developers, leadership, business stakeholders, State teams, and vendors to maintain and enhance critical data warehouse systems.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior data warehouse professional who can work independently, troubleshoot complex technical issues, and clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Key Responsibilities
- Support complex Common Batch Framework and Common Scheduler processes to ensure reliable and timely data availability.
- Manage Data Warehouse change management, including code and DDL promotions and build/release activities.
- Support both manual and automated code promotion processes.
- Manage the Linux security structure for Data Warehouse ETL servers, including groups, sudo access, and user authorization.
- Manage Teradata security and user access.
- Conduct data architecture reviews and audits to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for data architecture, processes, and solutions.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and resolution for escalated Data Warehouse issues.
- Monitor system performance and identify opportunities to improve scalability and reliability.
- Support ETL and data integration processes involving multiple source systems.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and effective use of enterprise data assets.
- Perform data profiling, validation, cleansing, and standardization.
- Develop and maintain data quality rules and validation processes.
- Support system upgrades, patch management, and ongoing maintenance.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Lead efforts to migrate Data Warehouse processes to standardized/common frameworks.
- Conduct elevated-access reviews and user audits.
- Identify and remediate audit findings related to data systems and security.
- Work with external vendors and third-party service providers as required.
- Provide technical guidance and targeted training to development teams for troubleshooting and batch support.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on Teradata experience REQUIRED
- Strong English communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience troubleshooting complex data and system issues.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Experience supporting enterprise Data Warehouse environments.
- Experience with data integration and ETL processes.
- Experience supporting production data warehouse systems
Preferred Skills
- 2+ years of Linux experience
- Experience with Teradata security and access management.
- Experience with batch processing and scheduling frameworks.
- Experience supporting data loads from multiple source systems.
- Experience with data profiling, data quality, cleansing, and standardization.
- Experience with change management and code/DDL promotion processes.
- Experience with disaster recovery and backup strategies.
- Experience with cloud-based BI tools.
- Previous government or State client experience is a plus.
- Experience providing technical training or guidance to development teams
