Salesforce Technical Lead & Architect Order Management (OMS)- Onsite in Needham, MA

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead & Architect – Salesforce Order Management (OMS) to lead the architecture, technical strategy, and hands-on development of our Salesforce Order Management platform.

The platform manages the complete Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) order lifecycle, from checkout through delivery, returns, refunds, and warranty services across North America and expanding European markets.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role requiring strong Salesforce architecture, development, and integration expertise. The candidate will drive technical decisions, deliver production solutions, mentor two mid-level engineers, and guide external delivery partners while reducing dependency on partner teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 7+ years of overall software engineering experience, including 4+ years of hands-on Salesforce development experience.
• Strong expertise in Salesforce development using Apex, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and Salesforce Flow.
• Proven experience designing and supporting production-grade order management or e-commerce workflows.
• Strong experience with Salesforce integrations involving e-commerce, ERP, warehouse management, and logistics platforms.
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, Platform Events, asynchronous processing, batch jobs, error handling, retries, idempotency, and reconciliation.
• Experience with middleware platforms such as MuleSoft, Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), or equivalent.
• Strong understanding of Salesforce governor limits, bulkification, scalable data architecture, and platform constraints.
• Good knowledge of Salesforce security, including sharing rules, CRUD, Field-Level Security (FLS), and permission set design.
• Experience leading technical architecture, mentoring engineers, and managing external Salesforce delivery partners.
• Strong operational experience with monitoring, incident management, root-cause analysis, and release governance.
• Daily hands-on experience with AI coding assistants and the ability to evaluate AI-generated code for quality, security, and reliability.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with technical and business stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Salesforce Order Management (SFOM). Deep order management or commerce integration experience on another platform is also acceptable.
• Experience with Copado or similar Salesforce DevOps tools, automated testing, deployment, and rollback management.
• Experience working in SOX-controlled or other regulated environments.
• Experience with multi-region or multi-country commerce implementations.
• Proven ability to mentor and develop mid-level engineers.
• Experience establishing AI usage policies, data-handling standards, code review expectations, and productivity measurement.
• Salesforce certifications such as Platform Developer II, Order Management Accredited Professional, or Salesforce Architect credentials.
• Familiarity with Agentforce and Service Cloud integrations.
