Job Title: Data Scientist
Location: Jackson, MS
Work Mode: Onsite (Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM)
Duration: Long-term contract (3 years with possible extensions)
Position Overview
A public sector organization is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to support enterprise data analytics, reporting, and healthcare data analysis initiatives. The selected candidate will collaborate with data, business, and IT teams to develop advanced reporting solutions and analyze healthcare claims and clinical datasets.
This role focuses on identifying trends, generating actionable insights, improving data quality, and supporting regulatory reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop advanced analytics reports, dashboards, and visualizations using modern reporting tools.
- Analyze healthcare claims and clinical data to identify patterns, trends, and operational insights.
- Provide expertise in data analysis methodologies, statistical techniques, and reporting solutions.
- Build and maintain scalable dashboards and enterprise analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with both technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and document reports.
- Support regulatory and external reporting requirements.
- Identify gaps in existing analytics and reporting solutions and recommend improvements.
- Review analytics outputs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and data quality.
- Promote data literacy and support enterprise analytics initiatives.
- Evaluate project risks, opportunities, and impacts related to data initiatives.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required.
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience as a Data Scientist supporting analytics or IT projects.
- 3+ years of experience working with healthcare or similar complex data environments.
- Experience developing organizational data strategies and improving data quality.
- 3+ years of experience building dashboards and reports using tools such as:

- R (R Project for Statistical Computing)
- Microsoft Power BI
- Other analytics or reporting platforms
- Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong ability to present and communicate analytics results to diverse audiences.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Healthcare IT projects.
- Experience with healthcare payer or Medicaid-like programs.
- Experience analyzing healthcare claims or clinical datasets.
Additional Information
- Standard 40-hour work week (Monday - Friday).
- Occasional overtime or on-call support may be required.
- Limited travel may occur periodically.
- Selected candidate may be required to sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as part of compliance requirements.
