The Department of Information Technology is responsible for citywide strategic technology
direction, operational support of applications, infrastructure, and wireless technologies, enterprise
application services, and managing information technology services contracts. The Department's
goals are to: (1) modernize and maximize the business value and resiliency of technology services (2)
deliver and support City technologies by optimizing the skills and training of City staff to drive
innovation and citywide best practices while driving customer satisfaction through customer
feedback and improvements; (3) improve the user experience by advancing IT service delivery and
developing solutions for a mobile workforce and (4) secure the City’s data and technology.
The Department’s mission is: “To provide high-quality technology and wireless services while driving
strategic innovation through collaboration and partnership with City and regional stakeholders”.
The Position:
Under the leadership of the mayor and the general direction of the Director of the Department of
Information Technology, the ERP SAP Developer will report to the ERP Division SAP Development
Manager. The ERP SAP Developer is responsible for, but not limited to:; working with the functional,
basis and security teams to determine project definition and business requirements; ensuring all
production changes follow the SAP change management process; assisting support managers in
prioritizing citywide project completion within required timelines; working effectively with third party
vendors to ensure proper level of expertise and enabling cross training where applicable for
sustainable development support in the ERP Division.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

* Provide excellent customer service to end users by working closely with the functional, basis,
and security teams within the ERP division to deliver high-quality solutions on time
* Responsible for SAP ABAP development. Hands-on experience in SAP ABAP is essential,
including RICEFW objects, Enhancement Framework, Object-Oriented Programming, ETL
process design, interfacing SAP with other IT systems via PI/PO and Integration Suite, and
cloud integrations with Ariba, SuccessFactors, Salesforce, and other 3rd-party applications.
* Stay abreast of current trends and technical advancements in the areas of SAP systems and
development, learn the characteristics of new systems, and update skills to adapt to
changing technology
* Support project team deployment and/or upgrades to current and future SAP solutions
* Collaborate regularly with the SAP functional, security and basis teams to maximize the
value of the investment in SAP for the City
* Assist the functional team in estimating completion time and requirements for a variety of
information systems projects
* Develop and document complex technical processes, functions, and procedures involving
various SAP systems modules
* Analyze complex business problems involving various SAP systems and develop appropriate
solutions
* Express difficult and complex concepts clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
* Prepare effective written and oral communications, reports, instructions and presentations
* Carry out additional duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Ten or more years’ experience in ABAP development
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong customer service orientation; strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills
* Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Ability to organize and prioritize multiple assignments, using initiative to accomplish results
* Ability to balance competing priorities with both internally and externally imposed deadlines

Public Sector and Utilities (Customer Care & Service) IS-U experience
* OpenText Exstream experience
* IDOC processes
* Workflow
* SAP UI5, SAP CAP sidecar development on SAP BTP
* Worked as a Senior ABAP Developer on an SAP ECC to S/4HANA migration project
* API RFC experience such as supporting GIS-CCS Geocoder via REST
* SAP OData development
