We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to support and secure a regulated aerospace and defense manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for the design, implementation, administration, and security of enterprise IT systems with a strong emphasis on Microsoft 365 Government Cloud, infrastructure security, compliance, and data protection.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, a security-first mindset, and hands-on experience supporting CMMC Level 2, ITAR-controlled data, and defense-industry compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities Systems & Cloud Administration
\t- Administer and secure Microsoft 365 Government Cloud (GCCC High) environments
\t- Manage Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams
\t- Oversee Active Directory (on-prem and hybrid), including identity lifecycle management, GPOs, and access controls
\t- Design and maintain hybrid infrastructure, including Hypervisor platforms (VMware/Hyper-V)
\t- Monitor system performance, availability, and capacity planning
Security Engineering & Compliance \t- Implement and maintain security controls aligned with CMMC Level 2, NIST 800-171, and ITAR requirements
\t- Design, manage, and secure PKI infrastructure, including Certificate Authorities and Certificate Servers
\t- Enforce data encryption standards for controlled data, both at rest and in transit
\t- Support secure data transfer mechanisms for regulated environments
\t- Lead vulnerability management, security hardening, and audit readiness efforts
\t- Support SOX ITrequirements on related systems
Network & Perimeter Security \t- Configure, manage, and monitor Fortinet firewalls, VPNs, and network security appliances
\t- Administer VPN access for remote users and third-party partners
\t- Implement network segmentation and zero-trust principles where applicable
\t- Troubleshoot complex network and security incidents
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity \t- Manage enterprise backup and recovery solutions (including Rubrik or similar platforms)
\t- Perform and validate disaster recovery testing and documentation
\t- Ensure data integrity, retention, and compliance with regulatory requirements
Governance, Documentation & Collaboration \t- Maintain detailed system documentation, policies, procedures, and security artifacts
\t- Collaborate with operations, sales, engineering, finance, and compliance teams
\t- Support internal and external audits related to cybersecurity and regulatory compliance
Preferred Qualifications \t- Microsoft certifications (Azure, M365, Security)
\t- Security certifications (Security+, or equivalent)
\t- Experience in aerospace & defense manufacturing or regulated industrial environments
\t- Familiarity with data loss prevention (DLP) solutions and zero-trust architectures
Additional Requirements \t- Must be eligible to work with ITAR-controlled data
\t- Ability to work on-site in Valencia, CA full time
\t- Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills
