About the RoleWe are seeking a
Full Stack Java Software Engineer to support fraud and claims detection platforms within a critical backend and middleware environment. This role focuses on modernizing legacy systems, migrating services to
OpenShift cloud, and enhancing microservices that integrate with third-party UI components and Oracle databases.
You will collaborate with global engineering teams-including daily coordination with partners in India-and work closely with stakeholders across technology and operations. This is an onsite-based role in Charlotte to ensure effective alignment with offshore counterparts.
This is a backfill position within a highly visible, high-impact technology group.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:
- Contribute to medium-complexity engineering deliverables across backend and full-stack components.
- Analyze and solve technical challenges across integrations, services, and data layers.
- Modernize existing systems and support cloud migration to OpenShift.
- Build and maintain Java-based microservices, APIs, event-driven components, and backend services.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies within a 5-7 person Scrum team; support monthly release cycles.
- Collaborate with global engineering resources, including acting as the primary liaison for India-based teams.
- Ensure compliance with engineering, security, and SDLC standards.
- Support system enhancements, maintenance, and long-term platform modernization efforts.
Required Qualifications- 4+ years of Software Engineering experience
- 3+ years with:
- Core Java
- Spring / Spring Boot / MVC
- Web Services (REST/SOAP)
- Oracle or similar RDBMS (PL/SQL, data modeling, views)
- SDLC tools
- 2+ years with:
- Microservices development
- Agile/Scrum delivery
- Build tools: Maven or Gradle
- Java testing frameworks
- JavaScript frameworks
- Experience with:
- Cloud platforms (OpenShift preferred)
- Kafka or event-driven architectures
- Secure coding practices / static code analysis
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work effectively across multiple time zones and in a virtual team environment
Nice to Have- Cloud certification (AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure, OpenShift)
- Prior financial services or Wells Fargo experience
